As a kid I had insomnia, I'd stay up a few days at a time and when I slept it felt like I just blinked, by body ached for years, I felt older as the days turned to weeks, I took the time to research because even though video games brought me joy I felt as though time wanned on me that I should do something productive. I came across classical music and Vivaldi being the first I truly sat and listened to. All that time awake listening to classical music has payed off more than I can recount because I feel as though my sleepiness years were some of the most enlightening of my time. I'm a chef now, and during the mornings I like to start with Vivaldi, this particular piece. And I am moved. Each morning

When Vivaldi died in 1741 his music was in the most complete darkness. It was the scholars of Bach in the nineteenth century who first heard of Vivaldi, thanks to the ancient manuscripts where Bach had transcribed the concerts of someone called Vivaldi. It was known who Bach was, but who was Vivaldi? Fortunately, a search was conducted, which resulted in the rescue of Vivaldi from oblivion.

Apparently towards the later years in his life Vivaldi went out of style, and was forgotten by many musicians until Bach found out about his music. I’m not sure how people could forget about him, considering the quality of his music.
@YumiVanherck6 жыл бұрын
He went out of style in the Romantic era as well with many composers of that time saying he only made one concerto hundreds of times. It's a shame since the Romantic era is still influential today so many people won't give Vivaldi a listen except for his Four Seasons.
@eyupozturk21995 жыл бұрын
Even Bach was forgotten, not once but twice. Just after his death, he was forgotten, then rediscovered by Mozart when one of his sons wanted to brag about how his music was better than his fathers to Mozart; then he was forgotten again when Beethoven and his sinfonic music erased Barock from memory; he was rediscovered by *** wrong Brahms **** correct *** Mendelsohn.
@arcangelogrimani5 жыл бұрын
One thing that contributed to this sad fact might be the lack of a proper medium at that time to preserve the works of the composers other than the paper, hence, Music was easily forgotten. Nowadays we have KZfaq for example, which serves this purpose, and makes music reachable to people.

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 - 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque musical composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, and priest. Born in Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He composed many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons. Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children where Vivaldi (who had been ordained as a Catholic priest) was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for preferment. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died, in poverty, less than a year later.

Largo (si minore)Allegro (si minore) Organico: 4 violini, violoncello, archi, basso continuo Composizione: 1711 Edizione: Estienne Roger, Amsterdam, 1712 Questo Concerto fu trascritto per 4 clavicembali e orchestra da J. S. Bach (in la minore), BVW 1065 "When the XII Concerts op. 3, Vivaldi is thirty-three years old and on the title page he presents himself as "violin musician and master of the Pio Ospedale della Pietà in Venice". Until that time his fame had not yet crossed the borders of the Serenissima but since the circulation of the first copies the success of the new collection (which he called the Estro Armonico) is immediate and extraordinary. And proof of this is the fascination that he exercised over Johann Sebastian Bach who, between 1713 and 1714, transcribed 6 Concerts from the Op. 3: the numbers 3,9 and 12 (for violin) become Concerts for harpsichord (respectively BWV 978, BWV 972 and BWV 976); the numbers 8 (for 2 violins) and 11 (for 2 violins and cello) are transformed into Concerti per organo (BWV 593 and BWV 596) and n. 10 for 4 violins takes the form of a monumental Concerto for 4 harpsichords and orchestra (BWV 1065). In the Harmonic Estro Vivaldi expresses an admirable structural synthesis between the archetype of the Corellian-style Concerto grosso and his new conception of the form - refrain which then, systematically and ingeniously, will be reused by Bach himself."
