given how hard he is straining his neck and vocals in the early days, It is truly impressive that he is still working as hard today. He is far from being alone in not having proper vocal training and using technique that is damaging in the long term; its plays a good factor in why so many singers of this and adjacent genre... just have a fully different voice now or do not preform. I believe Eddie has mentioned in some interviews about how after their early years and success he had to start learning some vocal techniques just to preserve his voice!

38:23 The joy on his face. We as fans, don't realize sometimes, how much we impact the artists and make it possible for them to feel that "release" that we feel from their music! The greatest feelings I've ever felt in my 50 years, have been at live shows. It's like, every person in the crowd vibes at the exact same frequency for a second and become one, as a whole. Then we echo or reverberate that positive energy back to the ones who created it, completing the cycle of healing. THAT, to me, is the true feeling of the POWER of music and the unseen force that connects people who listen to it. TO WHOMEVER READS THIS, You are never alone in whatever you are going through in life! That common denominator we share in certain songs, will get you through ANYTHING! Does that make sense?

Yes it makes perfect sense...and is TRUTH. Kept me going through extreme lockdowns, death of family members, and moments of doubt & hopelessness. In that moment of connection between music and a heart/soul there is no separation of space nor time..just the Spirit experiencing❤️‍🔥past present future all at once with others through different times and in different places on the earth💫⚡️its all electricity & vibration and we all affect one another. I watched the concert live on Dutch TV and after the concert the Dutch interviewer asked Eddie if he was on drugs simply because he couldn't understand the magnitude of this event in the minds of the members of the band. So Eddie pulls out the Polaroid photos he took of the crowd and shows them to the interviewer (and to the TV audience) mesmerized by how many people were in those pictures. There were so many Eddie tried to make a panorama of them and still couldn't include them all. All of us watching knew this was a historical event. Other PJ concerts are like this... something about the band, the vibe, the music. Eddie is also very encouraging towards audience participation but is never expectant or demanding of it. Many singers do not have the best feel for the energy of an audience or the chaotic freedom of concerts and can be too forceful or too passive when it comes to audiences and their participation. His style also discourages bad actors, for its much harder to be a dick head when surrounded by people genuinely embracing and participating with the event. no "freebird" fucks

I turned 46 on October 22 and watching this brings back so much emotion. God damn we had it good didn’t we. Young, healthy, and so excited to see what our lives were gonna bring. Some of us might be exactly where we thought we would be, some of us may have lived a life we never dreamed of and never wanted, and some of us have already said goodbye to this place and moved on. I have a level of love for my fellow Gen X peers. It’s like we all get the same incredibly deep and important inside joke. But it was far from a joke. You just had to be there. Like it is with so many other things. You just had to be there. And for you 70s and 80s people making a case let’s put it this way we are like brother and sisters to you. All of us are like distant cousins twice removed compared to the last couple generations lol. I mean this concert being called “grunge” is silly. This is a form of rock that formed from the classic rock of late 60s, 70s, and select groups in the 80s with its own added elements. Flannel shirts were a fab. This is timeless.

All generations have music icons. I was born in 88, so I got to experience grunge, post punk, pop punk, nu-metal and the explosion of rap and it's evolution to now. I'm a huge fan of the 60s,70s & 80's as well. Great music in every era, even this current one you just have to look for it more thoroughly now because of oversaturation.

I always liked Pearl Jam. An older cousin of mine gave me Yield for christmas when I was like 10. I never really got into them like Nirvana or Oasis which I have loved for years now. But this performance really won me over. Unbelievably raw and visceral energy while still being tight and sharp musically. And Eddie is a damn animal genius. I’m on the train now. Only 20 years late but I’m here for it.

@@virginiaknighten4687, I love Pearl Jam, but my grunge band is Chris Cornell and Soundgarden. Then Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots. And Mother Love Bone. Stone and Jeff Ament played for MLB until Andy passed away from a heroin overdose. Andy and Chris were best friends and when Andy died Chris flew in from a concert and was there when Andy passed away. Can't remember if it was in Seattle or California, but Eddie was the lead singer for several bands in the area, but after awhile Eddie would quit and go his own way. Eddie enjoyed walking around listening to band rehearsals so one day Chris and Soundgarden were rehearsing somewhere i think it was a warehouse or something and Eddie walked in to watch them play. Well, you know Chris was such a sweet and kind man he asked Eddie if he wanted to join in on a song, Hunger Strike. Chris was astounded by Eddie's voice and knew he had talent and needed to be promoted in the music business, but Eddie needed band members and good ones to form a band so that is when he arranged Stone and Jeff Ament to meet Eddie to see if it was a good fit. Well, as you guessed it a perfect fit and the rest is history. I think originally the members of Mother Love Bone were thinking of names for the band and thought Pearl Jam was a good fit, but they decided against it and thought MLB was a better fit.

I recently saw a documentary about pear jam and it was said that the guy who produced most of the big hits never altered Eddie's voice, he kept it as raw to give pj that exclusive sound.

Myself as well. Eddie saved me from taking my own life more than once as a teenager. He gave me hope and made me feel less alone with the lyrics and emotion that he gives you with every word. What a beautiful man he is. You can't help but fall in love with his heart. Keep your head up and stay focused, we will be okay, I believe that. Sending you love, prayers and strength 💜

Took my kids back in the day...they were about 15. Twins boy and a girl. We were all in the pit having a great time. I got out for a bit to cool down. Apparently the drummer threw his sticks into the crowd. A few minutes later my daughter finds me, she has a black eye, hair is all fucked up, clothes dirty, hands me a drum stick and says "this is fucking awesome, I'm going back for the other one!!!" Great memories...

leslie, i'm 54. got my first "record player" when i was 5 years old and started buying albums when all my friends were buying 45's. theme to hawaii 5-0 and shit like that. my first album was zepplin 4 followed by deep purple machine head. imagine a 6 - 7 year old listening to highway star and loving it. so i was a teen and late 20" through the 80's which sucked all but the underground indie bands. then the "seattle sound" hit! so refreshed music. not a big nirvana fan but PJ and especially AIC were my bands! bands like this changed stale music for the better forever AFAIC. now i rarely listen to classic rock but, keep up with the new alt sound! and yes PJ are still amazing, i still listen to Ten. Black is an amazing song!
