The problem is people in Tamil movie industry are poorly trained to make movies that. The learning system in the Tamil movie industry is arcane and ineffective. When the quality of filmmaking improves ( storytelling), I'm sure people will see a negative review for what it is. But until then we need people like Maran who does not fall under the feet of the " heroes" of this industry. A defiant voice is quite refreshing. Oh my god! What an illogical way to look at critics and reviews. Movies run irrespective of reviews. Case in point, Vedhalam, Theri, Kabali, Bairavaa etc. including Batman V Superman. Most of the mass movies are critic proof. This logic mostly applies to smaller films. Am not saying there's no impact. But this is too much inflated perspective of what seems to be a small dent on BO. Word of mouth is still a thing. That has peaked with social media now. That's why we have huge opening weekends and sometimes movies fall drastically. We used to watch movies based on word of mouth in 80s. Weekly magazines like vikatan provided ratings in 90s. Tv channel reviews reigned in 00s. Now social media is defining this decade. This ain't new. At the same time, good reviews doesn't mean good BO either. If that's the case, Bala would have been in 100cr club by now. 🙏
