There is no mutual respect when people vilify their existence and suggest that their existence are a violation of "values" and an attack on "traditional family". Traditional family is NOT under attack. Seriously baffled by this speech, I'm glad you had a beautiful moment when you held your daughter but how is that relevant in the context of a discussion about gay people? I don't think you hugging your daughter is more meaningful, beautiful or important a moment than when a queer person adopts and commits to being the best parent they can be to a child? Straight parents adopt too, so i'm really failing to see the relevance here. Not every marriage is happy, not every parent is a good parent, not every parent should have brought children onto the planet, not every parent is capable of love. Whether a child grows up loved or goes astray depends on what kind of HUMAN BEINGS their parents are. How many of us grew up in perfect homes? How many of us have seen our uncles treat their wives badly? How many of us have friends with abusive screaming parents? Are we supposed to pretend that all straight marriages are the bastion of perfection? there is nothing inherently special about a straight person or a gay person, you just love different people. Being gay doesn't preclude you from being a good person or a good parent, and being straight doesn't automatically make you one. This is simple, basic logic. If you all have gay friends you respect, do you not think they would be capable of being amazing parents too? When you say mass media needs to "uplift family values", does this refer to the censorship we're all familiar with? The type of censorship that makes domestic media so dull, uninnovative and incapable of capturing audiences? Singapore media is not interesting, and its made even worse by the fact that good international films getting aired here get butchered by censors. tired of watching western or chinese or asian dramas with even a tiny hint of lgbt interaction get whitewashed and erased. Congratulations to your 35 Wedding anniversary. Thank you for supporting the REPEAL of 377A & your sincere apology to your gay friends is commendable. However, despite a lot of Government promoting marriage & encouraging Songaporeans to produce more children, Singapore's birth rate continues to be alarming low. And why are so many senior, successful children still single & many living with their aging parents? How about those happily married couples who prefer not to have children. My 2 older sisters , now in their 70s are not married. My brother's son still living @ home. My 2 female cousins who are in their 50s & 70s are single. My cousin's son in his 50s ,& from a wealthy family. He is a surgeon at GH , quite good looking is still single & living with mum & dad. I am sure if we look around us, we can easily conclude that many Singaporeans have remained unmarried or do not procreate fir various reasons & these reasons have nothing to do with the repeal of 377a. Hong Kong & India had repeal of 377a. It did not lead to the legalisation of gay marriage or ( as some Christians like to suggest) a ' slippery slope" of moral decline. The countries which had legalised gay marriage, there is no erosion of the sanctity of Church marriages. There is also no debasement of CIVIL marriages .

Judges in our Courts interpret the Law according to the constitution The fundamental principles of Law is for Social Control. 377A was an " Unjust Law " This Law criminalised & Discriminated on sexual orientation. Judges & Courts were party to the Discrimination & Criminalizing against sexual orientation. The House & Judiciary must remain separate in interpreting the Law. PAP Party is not the Law. PAP Party is not empowered by the constitution to interpret the Law. Only our Courts & Judiciary is empowered to interpret the Law. Vivan the PAP & the Judiciary owes an apology too all who have been Discriminated & Criminalised by 377A this Unjust Law against people of Sexual Orientation. Shame on You PAP & Judiciary ! Apologize with Humility !
