Umji wanted to show us once she was satisfied with the results. I would also willingly bet Umji planned to drop the cover in May since she must know it’s an especially rough month for buddies. As I read the lyrics of the song, It is so smart for umji to sing it in a perspective of the person who left rather than the person who got left behind. Who would’ve ever thought that the lyrics that is originally written as a perspective of a person who got left behind can be also be interpreted as the painful feeling that the person who left felt. I saw lots of lemon cover but umji’s cover impacted me the most. It is unique for a singer to interpret a song in a different way yet you can feel its connection to the original. As we all know, the original song lemon was interpreted as the point of view of a person who got left behind as if saying that “It’s heartbreaking that you are gone now” or can also be interpreted as “mourning” but umji interpreted it in a way that everyone would be able to know what the person who left truly feels. You can clearly see how she highlighted it. It was so heartbreaking. Isn’t it fascinating to know the perspective of the person who left? People never ignored the fact that the person who left is hurting but the feelings of a person who got left behind are commonly highlighted so seeing this different side of perspective is interesting. This song cover reminds me that it’s not always the person who got left behind are hurting, it’s painful for the person who left too and I think umji expressed the interpretation she wanted to show to everyone successfully. I also wanna praise umji’s effort to make this song cover! From the music video to hair and make-up, she worked really hard in participating not just for the song cover itself but the scenes behind the video. 원곡은 일본드라마 언내추럴 OST로, 사랑하는 사람을 떠나보내고 남은 이가 그를 그리워하는 감정을 그리는 노래.. 그런데 엄지는 남은 사람보다는 떠난 사람의 입장으로 불러보았다고 함(브이앱에서 말해줌). 그런 설명을 듣고 다시 영상을 돌려보니까 더 애절하게 느껴지는 거 같음.....ㅠ 노래편곡부터 배경 헤어 메이크업 어느 것 하나 엄지의 손이 안 닿은 게 없고, 팬들이 오래 기다렸던 만큼 정말 신경 써서 보여주고 싶었다는데 그 정성이 흠뻑 느껴져서 더 감동......ㅠㅠㅠ

I love the original song but this cover is just somthing else, umji give the song more nostalgic feelings to it and I love how she sings every lines with so much feelings on it , it"s so pleasant to hear

We all knew that Umji could sing, but I'm so happy that BPM is letting her SING-sing. She has one of the most pleasing vocal colours in K-Pop and an amazing sense of pitch. It's almost like she was born with a built-in autotune as she demonstrates in live performances. I hope that she (and Eunha and SinB) release many more vocal covers down the road.
