So I honestly didn't think too much of this film when initially going into it because Doctor Strange didn't seem like a hero that interested me all too much but after seeing Stephen Strange's story and seeing his growth into the character I began to really like the character. He had grown on me quite a bit and seeing the transition to hardcore scientist and skeptic to a straight up sorcerer was crazy and unexpected LOL
Thank you guys so much and I hope everyone enjoys! I was a bit talkative this movie hehe sorry let me know if its too much! :)

This is one of my favorite MCU movies. It's a good modern-day classical hero story--a man who has it all, loses it all, starts from the ground up, but learns valuable lessons. I think one of the best things about Dr Strange is that he legitimately is terrifyingly brilliant. He is scary intelligent. Not just smart, but HOW TO learn. He can read and understand complex and esoteric things easily. Which is why he made short work of the Kamar-Taj library. He masters difficult tasks super easily. But that is also his downfall as a Doctor... it lead him to arrogance. And The Ancient One taught him humility again. It's so simple and so beautiful. The transition to using his incredible gifts and talents for himself, his own glory, or to help others. And Cumberbatch, despite the ridiculous name, is a massively talented actor. He's just really good at any role. Another interesting thing explored in this is that either extreme is wrong. That life, that progress, success, they lie in the middle. The Ancient One saw that. Others either gave themselves wholly to dark, or devoted themselves too strictly to the rules of the right. Both are wrong. Also, Wong is the best. Seriously. Wong is the best.

4:48 Not Rhodey. At the time of Iron Man, Rhodey was 40 years old, and his injury was several years later, so Rhodey was in his middle to late 40s when hurt. The patient is cited as being 35. This movie takes place at the same time as Iron Man 2, despite being part of Phase 3. During the Senate hearing early in that movie Stark commandeers the displays to show snippets of other efforts to duplicate his armor. One is a knockoff made by Justin Hammer, and its shown violently twisting 180 degrees at the waist. Hammer insists on ssying "The pilot survived", never says he was "okay". Oddly enough, this isn't the first medium to associate math and science with magic. In some magical lore, whenever the two are combined it's always a scientific mind that can become the most efficient mage. Their ability to understand physics and particle physics on a cellular level or their ability to create complex mathematical equations rapidly, help them to "envision" the spell they need with precision and accuracy. In other lore though, magic is just magic and we shouldn't ask any questions.

I've been spending a lot of time in Nepal recently and one of the locals has warned me not to buy or consume "wild honey", because in a lot of places here some of the plants that the bees collect nectar from, are poisonous, or hallucinogenic, and the process of turning that nectar into honey intensifies these effects. Because the honey is collected randomly in the wild there's no way to know if it will have no effect, give you a mild high, or a more extreme trip, and maybe even an overdose. I bring this up because of the scene near beginning when he says, "What's in that tea," and names off some powerful drugs, then she says, "it's just tea... with a little honey." This part is just a bit different given the potential qualities of Nepali honey. I don't think it's intentional, just an ironic coincidence.

Watching Doctor Strange in 2016 in 3D IMAX was the best experience I've ever had in my life. The sequel doesn't even come close to it. I'm sorry to anyone that couldn't experience it. I hope one day they release it again.

This takes place well before civil War, so the Air Force pilot was probably the guy from Iron Man 2 who was testing the hammer power armor in the video that Stark showed off to Congress

much more likely that it's rhodes as the rank matches and this takes place after avengers which was after iron man 2. doubt they're bringing up a random unnamed unseen person who likely wouldn't benefit from surgeries after that long. it's much more likely they were teasing what happens in civil war.

This is a really great adaptation of the source material. In the comic books, Dr Strange is one of the most powerful beings on Earth. If he wanted to solve every problem with violence, he could, but instead he goes very far out of his way to solve problems without violence. That's what makes his stories interesting. And although Stephen gave up crass materialism, his past still affects him. In the comic books, he and Tony Stark get into arguments about exotic sports cars. The moral of the origin story is kind of weird: you can change a selfish jerk into a good person by saddling them with soul-crushing amounts of responsibility. That stairwell with the crazy round window is one of the most iconic places in the Marvel universe. It really lends itself to amazing visuals. I knew movie people would be unable to resist it because artists can't.

Fun detail: Jonathan Pangborn (the guy who tells Stephen about Kamar-Taj) is an actual Marvel comics character. *Edit:* Also, it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it but the reason Stephen learns things so fast is he's got a perfect memory, he mentions it at one point.

When Strange is driving his car and the guy on the phone says he has a colonel with a crushed spine sustained from experimental armor, he's referring to the colonel that we see in the video clip Tony Stark was watching in the court room with Justin Hammer...Iron Man II
@captainspike1913
@captainspike1913 2 жыл бұрын
4:50 I know many people are gonna comment this but that line is not a reference to Rhodey. The director, Scott Derrickson, confirmed that the injured air force colonel is not Rhodey. Also, Strange had his accident on Groundhog Day, while Rhodey had his accident four months later in June

This happens in parrallel with Iron Man 2. Congressional hearing, Stark commandeers the video displays to show clips of other groups/nations attempting to replicate Stark's armor. HammerTech is included, and that suit's top half twists halfway around violently. Hammer states "The pilot lived." But does not elaborate. The HammerTech injury is the one referenced in this sequence.
@susnatamaiti1791

I think it was a reference to the guy experimenting on armours in the Hammer Industry, the footage in Iron Man 2. Because the time would be closer to 2017 or late 2016. Since in Endgame, when Smart Hulk went to the New York sanctum in 2012 and the Ancient One says "You're about 5 years too early." Meaning Strange still did not have his accident.

Best joke in this movie - "people used to think I was funny". Wong's response "DID THEY WORK FOR YOU ?" Wong does not laugh until the final act when Strange cracks a joke, and Wong laughs along hysterically. Why ? Because now Wong works for him !
