@@IsraelCountryCube 2 Thes 3:6-15 - _"Now we command you, believers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and by His authority, that you withdraw and keep away from every brother or sister who leads an undisciplined life and does not live in accordance with the tradition and teaching that you have received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined or inappropriate manner when we were with you [we were never idle or lazy, nor did we avoid our duties], nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we worked night and day [to pay our own way] so that we would not be a financial burden on any of you [for our support]; not because we do not have a right to such support, but [we provided our own financial support] to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example. For even while we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. Indeed, we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined and inappropriate life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies [meddling in other people’s business]. Now such people we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work quietly and earn their own food and other necessities [supporting themselves instead of depending on the hospitality of others]. And as for [the rest of] you, believers, do not grow tired or lose heart in doing good [but continue doing what is right without weakening]. Now if anyone [in the church] does not obey what we say in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be ashamed and repent. Do not regard him as an enemy, but keep admonishing him as a [believing] brother."_

My dad was called to ministry when he was in his early 20s (in his 60s now).. and he has in fact traveled the world to preach the gospel. He also had his own house painting business working full and over time for over 30 years, only retiring a few years ago. Both can be possible. You can serve the kingdom of God in the World WHILE serving God and your family in the home.

I was watching a documentary about what Jesus’ life would have been growing up, and like you said- because His dad was a carpenter, so was He. A carpenter was one of the hardest manual labor jobs of the time. (It wasn’t making cupboards etc like we think of today- it was back breaking) and the life span of a carpenter was 30 years due to how physically taxing of a career it was. So He didn’t just “work” for those 20 years, He did some of the hardest manual labors known to man at the time! I thought that was pretty cool and definitely needs to be spoken about- like you are!

On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10 The apostles tried not to be a burden to anyone when they were walking in their ministry. I was taught to always remember my alignment and how God wants us to order our priorities. 1. Our relationship to him (our Christian walk w/ Him) 2. Our relationship with our spouse (marriage) 3. Our relationship with our kids/other relatives (family) 4. Our job/means to provide (workplace/marketplace ministry) 5. Our ministry to the church (the Church/his people) now I understand for a pastor the approach can be bi-vocational, but if you look at how Jesus approached it, it is partly doable but we have to understand also he is God incarnate. Though I've had a pastor tell me once that if you are faithful to God in your walk with him, your marriage, your family & the workplace he put you in, the overflow of his blessings in the other four is why we can be so empowered in the ministries he put us in church.

Full time ministry is work in itself and that's why we pay tithes so that the Minister has no material needs. I know Pastors who were expressly told not work to earn money. If you grow the church large enough you will not need physically work to earn money. In fact, you will have investments that will sweat money for you.
@barbarahayes4696
@barbarahayes4696 Жыл бұрын
Ministry can be a full time when God grows the church. Though there are too many that make a business out of God's people. The tithes brought food into the storehouse for the priesthood to be taken care of. Too many today want the bling from ministry - the fancy cars, houses, planes ect. Minding the house and the sheep has gotten cast aside. This isn't a business, it ministry to God, building His kingdom.

I'm not 100% sure about this. My pastor is a full time pastor, and I literally don't see how he could fit a job into his schedule. He doesn't work a typical job, but he is constantly visiting people in hospitals. Going to visit the sick at their houses. Helping out other churches, and other pastors with revivals. Helping members of the congregation with anything they might need help with. All of that while still having to take care of his own family and home, and he even mows the lawn at the church and does most of the churches maintenance.
