Salaam Remi is one of the producers who worked heavily with the late Amy Winehouse. The producer discusses meeting Amy, and how they would come together to produce jazz music. He goes on to speak about her issues with love, her sense of humor and how that affected her music. Despite producing a majority of Amy's work, Salaam reveals he did not get a Grammy alongside the songstress. Salaam talks, Amy's legacy after the troubled singer died at just 27 years old.

Salaam helped Amy's career very very much from the beginning. He deserved that Grammy award more than Mark Ronson. He believed in her vision even before anything.

I completely agree. That first Album captured my heart even more than the back to black and in that album he paved the way for her entire sound. Mark is great but he was served the entire vision on a silver platter and he reproduced the sound he didn't create it. Salaam deserves so much more recognition

@@muyoworld I agree. Mark is great but just for the simple reason that Salaam was there from the beginning they should have given him the Grammy instead. Frank was phenomenal. Original jazzy.

Aaliyah is NOWHERE NEAR as legendary as Amy Winehouse.....aaliyah was not a trailblazer or a pioneer...she was one of many other good artists in her era.....ALSO R. Kelly did Aaliyah's first album which was just as popular as the one Timbaland did...most of Aaliyah's most memorable songs are the one's R Kelly produced...At Your Best, Back and Forth, and Age Aint Nothin but a Number
@KBplay
@KBplay 7 жыл бұрын
Jerome Beck Why can't Amy Winehouse and Aaliyah both be legends in their own right??? Also, Aaliyah was called The Princess of R&B for a reason. Her sound inspired many singers who followed. So I would say she was a pioneer. And I also disagree that R Kelly produced most of her memorable songs. You forgot Try Again which was produced by Timbaland and hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100 and was nominated for a Grammy. One in a Million, If Your Girl Only Knew, Are You That Somebody?, all big hits and Timbaland produced so your statement isn't factual. Sorry.
@jamieldn
@jamieldn 7 жыл бұрын
Dre tha Freq - drekb. agreed. Aaliyah opened the door for so many girls that followed - from Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, Ashanti, Beyonce, Keri Hilson and so on. She was the first to really sing personal songs over Timberland's beats. And yes, her best songs were produced by him and Missy. She died when she was about to takeover the game at just 22. Damn!
@jerrybeck5424
@jerrybeck5424 7 жыл бұрын
Jamie City Aaliyah did NOT open doors for NOBODY.....she wasnt even the biggest singer when she was alive....you had Brandy, Monica, Mya, 702, Mary J Blige, Xscape, SWV, Destinys Child, Mariah, Janet.....the list goes on and on and on of female vocalists and groups that paved the way......Beyonce's group was selling more albums than Aaliyah when she was alive.....The Writing on The Wall sold more albums than all of Aaliyah's albums. Gwen Stefani???? Are you kidding! Gwen Stefani is way more of a legend than Aaliyah...No Doubt's one album sold more than Aaliyah's entire catalog....All of those artists would have been big with or without Aaliyah. Aaliyah is so overrated by the new generation that its COMICAL!

Josh 85 Do you really think that they didnt want to put her away.?When she made the rehab song she referred to her dad claiming that she didnt need to go but actually they attempted several times to help her and remenber you "Can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink". She went to rehab but she would always manage to ruin it. Amys life long dream was not to be as famous as she was. If her parents were responsible for anything it would be because they let her grow up too fast,and undisiplined. But it won't bring her back now. She did maker HER mark though.

Why is everyone so comfortable disrespecting Mark, as if he’s not one of the main reasons why the album sold 20 mil and became the phenomenon it is now. Like literally shut up

I always thought that "Fuck Me Pumps" didn't sound like a song that Amy would write on her own. Now it makes sense. Damn, I miss her

The establishment does everything to avoid giving credit to the artist. If someone else can come in and put their name on your work, they'll gladly take your credit..

How many times is this interviewer going to say “ yeah it was a major loss, huge loss”. Can you ask deeper questions? Like, why when you saw these photos of her, why did you never say or do anything to help her???

Vlad is such a cop that he failed to ask the question we want to know. Does he has tracks that no one has heard?
