Part 24: • Teddy Riley: 2Pac & Aa...
Part 22: • Teddy Riley on Making ...
Part 1: • Teddy Riley on Growing...
--------
In this clip, Teddy Riley talks about making "No Diggity" for Blackstreet with a feature from Dr. Dre when they were both in a transitional period of their music careers while he was also working on Michael Jackson's album. From there, he talks about getting pressured by Jimmy Lovine to wrap up the Blackstreet album before revealing that Suge Knight later showed up at his recording studio with a business proposal to join Death Row Records. He never called Suge back. Therefore Suge responded by having his artists diss Teddy Riley and Dr. Dre in "Toss it Up."

One thing about Teddy Riley is that he is an immaculate storyteller and can recall facts and provide scenarios on any situation that he personally experienced.... Because he's truly interested in telling the story so you know the history... All of this is a part of his legacy

Here Teddy goes again, this doesn't add up Teddy. How did they get the beat without any lyrics on it. It isn't like today, so nothing was digital, so for Toss it Up to happen they would have needed a reel. So are the Wikipedia articles wrong about who produced No Diggity? Because as of this KZfaq video, Wikipedia says "The beat to 'No Diggity' was initially offered to rapper 2Pac for his Death Row debut All Eyez On Me by label boss Suge Knight, but with Dre leaving the label he sold the beat to Teddy Riley." But none of that aligns to Part 22 & 23 of this Teddy interview. The Wikipedia page for Toss It Up currently says, "[Toss It Up] was originally produced by Dr. Dre. After parting ways with the label, Dr. Dre took his production on the song and continued it to create the song "No Diggity" with R&B group, Blackstreet. Death Row, under a cease and desist order, was forced to reproduce the song, removing all of Dr. Dre's production." 🤷‍♂

Suge knight was a visionary. Teddy would have made wayy more messing with Death Row in 1996. He would have worked with Jodeci, Tupac, Aaron Hall, Danny Boy, Snoop and others. Teddy fell off after that. Dr Dre aint going to do but one song with you and move on. You see how long he took for his own album.
