Rex Chapman is awesome.. He was one of the best at UK.. On a side note, Is it just me or does it seem like when he's interviewing someone he doesn't really respond or react to what they say.. he just moves on to the next question and it kinda feels like it makes people a little uncomfortable like they're wondering why he's not having any sort of reaction to what they say. Usually when you're having a conversation with someone and telling stories you engage with them when they talk about something or at least have some kind of reaction to what they say rather than just a flat okay so tell me about this. Idk maybe it's the way it's edited or something. don't get me wrong I think he does a great job with interviews and I enjoy them, but I feel like he could interact more when someone talks about something rather than just saying ok and moving on to the next topic..

Outstanding interview! Mad respect for Rex Chapman. He popped up on my radar several years ago with some really thoughtful and cool responses on Twitter. It seemed like he always had an open mind about issues. Wouldn’t get pulled down into the mud by undereducated reactions to issues. Kind of a more educated ‘live and let live’. This interview made him shoot up my charts exponentially for favorite athletes. Love hearing what good man have to say about their life’s journey to this point. Keep on doing you, Rex. Thanks so much for opening yourself for us, now. And can’t leave without acknowledging the interviewer’s research and preparedness. The questions really allowed Rex to reflect on important milestones in his life. Well done, all around!! P.S. As a 66 year old white man, the treatment Rex and his black girlfriend received, absolutely infuriates me!! Hopefully, those cretins will crawl back under their rocks, one of these days soon!

I met this guy while he was talking on stage at an AA meeting basically. I was 21 years old and in rehab and had never heard of Rex’s name or seen him play and didn’t have access to a phone or the internet so I couldn’t look up His name before the speech. I was always a huge basketball player growing up. Later on I finally had internet access and looked up his name and instantly found the video of him cooking Michael Jordan talking shit…… I then realized I actually met a legend that night in rehab. I haven’t been to any more rehabs thank god. And I am happy to see Rex is still looking good! I remember i was joking with the girl next to me about how big the budlge in his pants really was and I had never seen someone so hung in my life! No homo!!

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. In 2012, when I was 39, I married a very pretty Black/Cherokee/White woman, who was 22 at the time. Our daughter was born in 2013, meaning she turns 11 in 2024. My ex-wife is a wonderful lady. We tried to make the marriage work, nothing bad happened, but because of our 17 year age difference, we just grew apart. Her family has always been great to me. I had visitation and 2 weeks with my daughter every summer, before the pandemic. Then, when COVID hit, for social distancing reasons, my daughter stayed full time with my ex wife. Let me say, that nobody in my family has given me any grief about marrying a Black woman. My father was Japanese-American, but my mother is from Japan. Before the pandemic, my mother took my daughter to Japan 3 times, and nobody gave them any grief. I have to tell my daughter, "don't let people just say, Oh you're Asian/Japanese." I tell her, You're also Black, Native American, and White. Incidentally, my daughter gets told that "She's not Black," because she loves to play chess, loves computers, loves cats, she swims, plays tennis, golf, and is on cheerleading teams. She gets called names like Chocolate Rice Cake, Mongol-Negro, Black Girl with Down Syndrome, Chinese Black Girl. I just tell her to "block it all out," and not pay attention to those taunts.
