Paul Wall Talks Facing Racism with Black Wife

www.vladtv.com - Growing up, rapper Paul Wall was taught to coexist with others, regardless of their race. Although southern states have proven to be more pro-Confederate than others, Wall says he doesn't see too much of that in Houston. "In Texas there's definitely some racism there, but me personally, I feel the greatest amount of racism when I travel with my [Black] wife to the East Coast. Certain other areas, man, it's way worse than Texas," says the father of two biracial children.
Paul Wall also commented on his friend Yelawolf's choice to incorporate the Confederate flag into his outfits. "It means something different for him than what it means to a lot of other people," Paul explains. "And I ain't mad at him for representing that, I mean I ain't mad at him for standing up for what he believe in. 'Cause to him it doesn't stand for racism. And Yelawolf [is] not a racist person at all, so when he say that he's not saying 'I believe in the Confederate flag and I'm racist.' That's just what he stands up for for his culture."
Watch as Paul Wall discusses racism in the South and more above.

He does not sound "black", he sounds street. He speaks the way of the culture he's grown up with and lives with. Sounding "black" means that all black people have only one way of speaking and sounding.

Sounding street is derivative of black culture and no it does not mean that black people have only one way of sounding so I have no idea how you came up with that. Sounding black means that you speak in a way that derives from black culture and there's many different ways that black people speak. Street is one of them as it derives from hip hop culture....therefore he sounds black.

Racism is wack. I don't get it man. When you say you hate someone because of their race or religion or sexual orientation, you're really missing out on learning something from that person. Diversity is important.

Man he explained it good about growing up in Texas and racism. I am from a really small town in Texas and I didn’t really know racism or anything of that nature until I was older. That’s even after coming from a backwoods country family. Racism is not in anyone’s DNA it is taught.
@hunterjordan4327
@hunterjordan4327 Жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that? Have you walked in another persons shoes. Imagine someone who grew up to be an innocent poor White conservative patriotic Christian 🇺🇸 American. But he comes from a broken liberal and secular non religious unpatriotic home in a predominately Black and Latino neighborhood. He’s pretty much raising himself because his mother is an addict and his abusive father is not around. And he has values and grew up around these people, and he always tried to be nice but they took his kindness for weakness and they pushed him around or insulted him and mocked him and laughed at him and what not. Even the what he thought were the decent Blacks or decent Mexicans he thought were his friend, went behind his back and cheated with his first ever Puerto Rican girlfriend that he fell in love with. Because they are street people and he’s unfortunately a good man growing up in an ignorant and immoral neighborhood where honor and integrity and goodness are not valued. And then he sees and experiences all this affliction and betrayal, and he comes to the educated conclusion that he knows there has to be some that are decent church going family oriented Black and Latino people, but not in the environment he grew up. But for the most part, the stereotypical racism and general consensus about Blacks and Hispanics are true, and he becomes a racist himself after all the disrespect he has endured from these ethnic groups being the extreme minority in his environment. Not that he hates them and wishes they all died, but he just rather not have anything to do with them, and would never trust to have a friendship with any Black or Latino guys, or have any romantic relationship with a Black or Latina woman, because all he saw was toxic and ghetto ignorant and ungodly behavior, even from so called professed Christians. Huh? What do you got to say about the White guy in America that has experienced that. Say what you want about White peoples being racist, but I don’t think they will befriend a Black or Hispanic person, to just use them or sleep with their wife or girlfriend. White people are at least straight up about those type of things and generally speaking do not tolerate lying or cheating or stealing in their community. So yeah, sometimes racism comes from experience, and not from being taught.

I had not met a single other Japanese American while living there but I made a ton of friends who were black, white, Mexican so on and so forth. Not a single one of them gave a shit that I was Asian. Yes!!! Thank you Paul Wall! There is so much racism in other parts of the country where you wouldn't expect! My husband is Mexican, and I'm white. We moved from California (where we lived all our life) to Wisconsin, so I could get my PhD. People would constantly stare, talk s**t under their breath, and point at us. If you look around the Milwaukee area, you'll see how how it's still very segregated too. After I graduated, we packed up and went back home to Cali. Never ever will I move there again!

Even though this video is 4 years old it still holds weight to this day. I am from in Louisiana and grew up in Mississippi. A lot of people in the south aren’t as racist as people think. Some of the oldest interracial couples are in the south. Like he said southerners are all about love and treating people with respect. I live in Colorado now and I’ve heard more radical racism here then I had ever heard.

Man the most racism I even seen when I am with my wife is in Boston. I'm white from Miami, so I've always been around multiple cultures. My wife (who is black) and I moved to Boston and damn was I surprised. The most racist people I have ever met. They got most of the black people pushed in a corner too, crazy seeing that shit. Watching people oblivious to it and acting like it was normal was sad.

And u wanna sumthin else fam, he should either did his political science history or simple and plain, stop lying about what happened during the Texas Annexation. The real reason that took place was becaz once again whites decided that they were gonna infiltrate another land that wasn't theirs, which at the time, Texas was appart of Mexico. Hispanics owned texas. Eventually it became a state as a result of the war between whites vs. hispanics. Which really had very little to with slavery, as for as it has to do with blacks. So, it just sounds like to me he's trying to manipulate the truth. Because lets just keep it real. Texas is a republican state. And Im not even originally from here, and I know that.
