Some people have speculated that Shabriri is the person who made the false claim on the caravan causing the nomadic merchants to be punished and buried alive which we can see in the game. It is likely that crime of slander that caused his eyes to be gauged.

Something I feel should be noted. If you kill Mohg the Omen and open the secret path before killing Morgott, there will be a magical barrier that prevents you from going down the path to the Three Fingers. It only goes away after killing Morgott. This leads me to believe that both Morgott and Mohg recognized the danger of the Frenzied Flame, and at some point worked together to create this blockade to stop anyone from finding it.

- Did you ever hear the tragedy of Festering Fingerprint Vyke?" - No - I thought not. It's not a story the Finger Reader would tell you. It's a Three fingers legend. Vyke... was a Lord of the frenzied flame so powerful and so wise, he could use the yellow flame to burn the erdtree. He had such a knowledge of the frenzied flame, he could even keep the ones he cared about... from dying." - He could actually... save people from death?" - The frenzied flame is a pathway to many abilities... some consider to be unnatural." - Wh- What happened to him?" - He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was... losing his maiden. Which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he fell into madness and was caught and put into evergaol. It's ironic. He sacrificed himself but in vain." - Is it possible to learn this power?" - Not from a Two Fingers.

Vyke is one of my favorite elden ring characters so far, he's definitely very important it seems since he's plastered all over the game's cover art and many item descriptions talk about him

Vyke being friend with a dragon somehow make me think he was also trying to find placidusax in order to use miquella's needle, but he couldnt find the needle to rid himself off the frenzied flame after it take root

Honestly, Vyke's character and backstory is the reason why I want one of Elden Ring's DLCs to have us travel to the past and meet all of the characters in either their beginnings or their prime. One where you can meet Vyke before he is driven mad by his audience with the three fingers, and see him fall from grace likely due to an honest desire to protect his maiden by attempting to divert their fate of being sacrificed to burn the erdtree.

I love how smaller channels have been blowing the lore hunting out of the water. I was nervous about the state of lore hunting when big channels got the game early. Good stuff, subbed.

One more theory, I think Mogh, the Omen was an illusion created by Morgott, since if you beat him and go behind him before beating Morgott, a seal will block your way. If you inspect the seal it tells you it's being held up by King Morgott.

Literally was thinking about Vyke. The fact that ancient dragons liked him, and how close he was to the Elden throne made me want to research more about him.

Enia remarks that, after you acquire two Great Runes, that she's only ever seen two Great Runes together once before. Considering that having two is also the requirement to reach the Altus Plateau (as told by Gideon) she's undoubtedly referring to Vyke here. If this is the case, I wonder what Great Runes Vyke was in possession of? I mean, every demigod we fight is firmly in possession of their own. Who did Vyke defeat to acquire his?

Chad Vyke utilizing frenzied flame to save his maiden. I missed the Shabriri encounter on my first playthrough because I've already inherited the flame (healed before ending). I feel like this conversation is very important context giving motivation for some of the player's Tarnished and explaining how they used their flesh for kindling. By the way, regarding importance of the maidens, I'm sold on theory that Varre killed yours before you met her in Chapel of Anticipation.

Finally, I've been waiting for someone to make this, he's been my favorite character ever since reading the description on Vyke's Dragonbolt

I was thinking something: - its said that two Great Runes are required to get the chance of becoming a Elden Lord - The finger lady in the Roundtable Hold said that she saw two great runes together only once before us bring two - Only two Demigods had Great Runes we never saw: Miquella and Ranni Did Vyke found the Great Rune that Ranni casted away + found the lost rune of Miquella?

It seems the people Shabriri slandered were the merchants of the great caravan and that is the origin of the story. He slanders the merchants, they are imprisoned and call upon the frenzied flame, shabriri is punished and then afflicted in revenge by the flame and becomes their slave.

I find it interesting that Vyke's story is actually basically the cut story of Oscar of Astora, another of your kind who seek the same goal who goes a path differing from you, resulting in them failing to become the lord they initially set out to be from the very start, both seeing the end of their story at the hands of your character

Oh man, this is a heavy one. Knowing this before fighting him already evokes feelings akin to fighting Sif, Artorias, or Solaire way back when. Though you might not have ever had the chance to befriend Vyke in the game, walking in his shoes certainly comes close. And man… he’s got some heavy shoes.

I think vyke didn’t necessarily know exactly what he was getting into when encountering the 3 fingers. After all his armour is singed and melted beyond repair having not taken it off. I think he’s a lesson of curiosity and temptation to stay true on the path directed by the two fingers and grace.

It's even more tragic that Vyke... Could have been right. You can become Elden Lord without sacrificing your maiden. But he could not obtain the means. Perhaps miquella's research did not advance enough for more unalloyed gold needles. And he would not have known about them, nor would have been able to obtain them. Vyke is ultimately a reflection of the player character. It's why he's plastered on the game's front cover. He's a version of you that's inferior. One that's failed. One that quit in the end.

I like to imagine Vyke willingly put himself in that evergoal atop the mountains realizing just how messed up the flame of frenzy was overall. My guess is that he used one of Miquella's unalloyed gold needles to expunge the flame of frenzy from his body and I assumes the festering fingerprint Vyke that invades in Liurnia is that leftover frenzy.

Great, informative video! I wonder what the connections between the Ailing Village on the Weeping Peninsula and the rest of the "frenzied locations" are, since it's quite isolated when you look at the map. Maybe that ties into Edgar dropping a Shabriri Grape when he invades you as the Revenger and the rest of the questline, as both Irina's/Hyetta's and Edgar's questlines start on the weeping peninsula as well. I look forward to more videos from you, I hadn't heard practically anything about the dusk-/gloam-eyed queen before watching your vid on it some days back, so I hope there'll be many more moments where we can learn about mysterious and barely mentioned characters that many would have otherwise missed. I would love to see an actual questline for Vyke or maybe even a whole ending where you help Vyke become Elden Lord or Lord Of Frenzied Flame.

One thing about the shunning-grounds: my guess is that it is Morgott's initiative to put Mohg there as a sort of guardian of the frenzied flame and such. While it is a projection of Mohg, we don't have much motive or method for him to have done so himself, while we have seen Morgott do so multiple times at Stormveil and even another copy of himself outside Leyndell. Not only that, if you beat Mohg the Omen before Morgott and attempt to pass through the hidden passage to the Frenzied Flame Proscription, there is a barrier saying "Sealed by Morgott, the Grace-Given". Seems quite on the nose in terms of who is interested in keeping that area secret and secure.

Super cool explanation and makes a lot of sense; I avoided all of the Vyke/Frenzied Flame videos until I got that ending, now that I've finished it I'm glad I watched this to put all the pieces together.

I thought it was really interesting how you said that vyke wasn't swayed by his maiden to disrobe and enter the tomb, but by an external force. However Hyetta instead in our case does directly tell us to do it. Since this body taking over shenanigans seems to be linked to shabriri, maybe this time he thought he would use a fake maiden to make it even more likely that you would become the Lord of frenzy since it didn't work out in vyke's case

Damn, no wonder Vyke armor was so familiar to me. He was in the cover! I always thought it was your own character wearing some random armor. Anyway, I feel that what happened to Vyke is that he got nearly there, but he loved his maiden too much and decided to try and get the Three Fingers help to burn the tree instead, but as his armors show, for some reason he got embraced by the Three Fingers with his armor still on and thats probably why he failed at burning the tree himself. Maybe his maiden said or did something that stopped him from fully completing the ritual with the Three Fingers. Its weird but I cant think of any reason for his armor to be branded other than...he refusing to get naked to be embraced? I dont know. But yeah, Shabriri tries to do the same with you, and while you can keep Melina alive by meeting the Tree Fingers, she will still leave you cuz she doesnt want the Frenzy Fire ending. And considering how the Frenzy Fire ending goes, I guess she leaving doesnt even matter because you burn the entire world anyway and I dont think anyone survived. Also, you say Irina`s father might have made a deal with Shabriri, but I dont know if thats the case. You last find Irinas father at that cabin where he takes his revenge, and he attacks you thinking you were also part of the group that killed his daughter, so I feel like he has no idea that Irina`s body gets taken over by whatever Hyetta is.

I love how they made the promotional and testing characters into actual lore characters

Yooo!!! This is my favorite story & set of incantations/weapons. But you are forgetting a key detail. In order for Vyke to get that far, he had to get 2 great runes. The finger reader in your finger room even says so. That they saw 2 great runes together once before. So wait WTF happened? That's another part you are missing. The finger readers all have their eyes burned out (and I wanna say at some point the main one in your finger room gets found dead and burned?). There's also part of the finger shield that talks about the dangers of 'unintetpreted fingers'. What if, whoever sealed the 3 fingers away did so by first cutting (rotting? Burning?) the 3 fingers off and then doing some kind of 3 fingers eye burning shit on the magic created clones in order to keep the finger power working but also now keep it und r control because for some reason the 2 little fingers are the chilliest?

Actually, the people Shabriri slandered were probably the Nomadic Merchants, who were then buried underground and in their despair summoned the Flame of Frenzy in the first place.

Great video! What I really love about the lore of all the Fromsoft titles is that there is usually someone (or something) that tries to influence the PC to follow a certain path. Many characters, even if they appear friendly and cooperative, really wants to use us in pursue of their aims, and it's really fun to puzzle all the little clues together!

The way you make these videos is very straightforward and satisfying. Truly enjoyed watching this, as usually I tend to find the videos that just can't hold my interest. Good job!

Enemies based on the frenzy flame are few and far apart, but I really hope we dive deeper into it's lore and those connected to it. Hopefully in a future dlc

Edgar making a deal with the Flame of Frenzy to bring back his daughter, and thus going mad in the process, actually makes so much sense and finally explains why Irina and Hyetta are basically identical characters. Which also explains why you meet Hyetta at the start of the Lurnia of the Lakes region where Edgar as the "Revenger" can be found further within. Meaning he likely made his way towards the 3 Fingers, somehow was contacted by them or Shabriri, and probably made some kind of deal to revive her. Only for himself to be driven mad, and ironically become a source of one of the grapes his reborn daughter would consume to progress on her journey to become the player's maiden of the 3 Fingers.

I've been so curious about all of this and how it connects, I haven't seen anyone talking about it! Thank you for the video!

I`d like a Frenzy themed DLC that plays in a Land dealing with the consequences of following the Frenzied Flame i just want to fight more madness creatures to be honest despite the importance of the Frenzy i feel its still a little underused

There's a theory going around that either Hyetta is Shabriri in another form or she was Vyke's maiden, afflicted by madness after he tried to explain what he's doing.

NGL Yura was the first questline in any souls game I completed, with Elden Ring being my first souls game. I honestly assumed I fucked up somehow when he died. I felt that way for many quests before I caved and wiki'd them to see what I did wrong. Which was really nothing (Except Fia's quest if I knew I could save her i'd of 100% done that. D's twin is the only NPC i've killed. Seluvis is living on borrowed time)

Poor Vyke man .. he clearly doesn't want to sacrifice his maiden. Swayed or not he took Sabriri suggestions .. sadly Vyke were not able to control the FF. Unlike other i feel like his quest are not fleshed out enough, if it were incomplete i hope fromsoft would improve it by patch or DLC.

There was one mysterious part of Vyke that you seemed to have missed, but it can be overlooked honestly, as idk if bug or intentional but if you wear Vykes' helmet with the Black Knife armor, it is one of the only (if not the only) helmets in the game to have the transparent hood pulled over it. If it is intentional and not a bug, then Vyke has some unspecified connection to the Black Knives?

The Frenzied Flame ending is also easily the most interesting IMO, and gives Melina some actual purpose in the story. I hope that's the canonical ending and gets a follow-up in any DLC or sequel content in the future.

I didn't think about the maiden at the Church of Inhibition. At first I thought Lanseaxx was his maiden and he did not want to sacrifice her.

One thing to note Vyke never remove the armor, we only know that from doing Hyetta quest and there are no evidences that Vyke met Hyetta, when we remove the armor it allow the 3 finger to enter the body as you can see it disappear after giving you the mark on the flesh. Vyke however didnt remove the armor because he doesnt know and cause madness to be inflicted on him instead. There are still plot hole like how he open the door in the first place.

Sad part is I think he was trying to protect his maiden that was in the church. :

It seems that Shabriri is like a trickster god, taking pleasure in misleading and playing with those who are too naive or "blind" for their own good. Toying with men like Edgar, a man so *blinded* by his duty he neglected to protect his own kin. Or Yura, a man so *blinded* by his love he knowingly runs towards certain death.

I want to add some speculation here Sharibri was sentenced for slander which leaded to the frenzy flame. While the nomadic band was accursed for heretic and burnt underground. So it is very likely that Shabriri was the one that did it to them. Also Vyke armor has the fingerprint on him. If he stripped himself before the 3 fingers the armor wouldn't have had the fingerprints on it. I believe he wore an armor when meeting them which failed the imprint on his own body and made him mad. And his finger maiden is probably like Melina. They don't accept the 3 fingers deal and will just leave you when you do so. May be she killed herself or something after putting him into the ever gaelas she is now lost her purpose.

The songs of the nomads are all so beautiful. I‘ve spent quite some time just sitting beside and listening. Quite immersive.

Its not explicitly said but the context of everything you hear surrounding the nomadic merchants and shabriri implies that he accused them of heretical beliefs, easy since they were foreigners to the lands between, and when they were shunned into the depths below the capitol, he planted the idea of them praying to the three fingers for salvation. The sheer amount of bodies in the hidden area suggests that enough of them were consumed by the flame to summon a physical body for the outer god of frenzy, allowing candidates for the lord of frenzy to vie for the throne after receiving the blessing. it seemed shabriri saw visions of the three fingers will and put all of the pawns into the perfect places for him to facilitate another person being the lord of frenzy. What a cool side story for the world

Vyke get many many descriptions in the games, but I knew little about this interesting character. Love this high quality video.

I killed yura in my first playthrough and when he showed up again as shabriri I didn't even talk to him I was so freaked out just like "AHH OH MY GAHD ZOMBIE" and killed him.

It also makes me ponder how talented Miquella must've been to create a tool to tame the frenzied flame itself. It's the path I chose to save Melina without condemning the world. Miquella truly seems to be the OG beast of the franchise. Made a haligtree that acted as a sanctuary for the lost and misbegotten. Loved by all who met him. Even mourned his brother Godwyn for his murder on the night of the black knives and desired for him an appropriate death. Desired to cure his sister of her rot curse with unalloyed gold needle. Even can tame the frenzied flame? If anything, sounds like Miquella should be Elden Lord if what the world needs is a good person on the throne. Also before anyone simps for Ranni, just because she's a cute doll doesn't mean she's a great person. She coordinated the night of black knives, murdered her brother's soul (like wtf? Godwyn even befriended the dragons) and sided with Rykard, dude who was torturing people in his basement. Ranni is determined to achieve her goals no matter the cost or who gets in the way. It seems Miquella was never willing to make such sacrifices.

Do we know if Vyke had obtained great runes before his imprisonment, and were reclaimed when he was? Because as we see, all the demigods still live and still have their great runes, so maybe Vyke had some kind of agreement with Morgott, which permitted him to pass the barriers which Morgott has placed throughout Leyndell. I just wonder what "being the closest to Elden Lord" actually means. 🤔
