I think this is the first video I've seen about a Cal RX that is complete in itself. Finally, something that 'makes sense' for today's market. I've always been dumbfounded about how companies can market an incomplete product, like selling just the reaction chamber and pump without a C02 cylinder / regulator (& dosing pump) and actually get people to buy it. It's like paying full price but when you get it home, you still have some DIY to do before it can be deployed in your system. Would love to see a more in-depth vid about how to use the controller and connectivity/functionality options (like, can it connect to an Apex). Great video. Thanks. PS: Fire your barber, they dropped something on your hair. :D

Jake, whats the time frame till we see the calcium reactor sold in U.S.?
@ReefBuildersVideo5 жыл бұрын
It’s available for special order, I think Polyp Lab is the Deltec distributor.
@basonder145 жыл бұрын
This Deltec is looking pretty good! The way you could open the chamber to add media and the quick way to open or close the reactor are very practical additions. However there’s only one mother of all calciumreactors in my opinion and that still is the Dastaco. I’m very curios about the upcoming KH monitor which we are able to connect the Dastaco to a Apex to monitor KH. They will launch it in the near future. Are you reviewing that piece of equipment as well?

Nice video Everything But the price which means it's over the top. I've been dealing with calcium reactors for over 25 years. used all kinds homemade as well. Funny thing about it s they all do the same thing. Love the bells and whistles on that one. Definitely the Rolls Royce of calcium reactors.

So running the effluent throught chaeto also lowers it’s ph? I know you’re not a fan of refugiums, but sounds like it would be easy to have a small one and drop the effluent in there, or am I thinking this wrong? 🙄
@fadetoblack.-5 жыл бұрын
I'll answer that question no you're not wrong a refugium is perfect counterpart to a calcium reactor. Jake is one of the very few experienced reefers I've seen that doesn't like a nicely set up refugium. With 30 years of experience I would never set up a aquarium without a refugium with Cheeto. It houses so much of the micro-biology in a reef tank.
@bonoc.94325 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the easiest way to use it then... I do wonder how much a specific size refugium can raise the Ph though... like from 6.5 to 8.0
@ReefBuildersVideo5 жыл бұрын
@@fadetoblack.- I have no issues with a REAL macroalgae scrubber, but in my book that's different from a refugium, although contemporary reefers hardly distinguish the two.

@leonardodenbreejen5 жыл бұрын
Jake, you may reconsider using the crushed coral media. Saturation level of CO2 will quickly turn it into mush, clogging everything up. These kind of reactors (Deltec, DaStaCo) function best with harder media like Triton's.
@leonardodenbreejen5 жыл бұрын
Great pice of equipment btw!
@ReefBuildersVideo5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Leo, I'll keep an eye on it. If it does turn to mush I will just buy regular marble stones - the igneous process that transforms limestone into marble inherently purifies it, no need to take out a loan to buy 'certified' pure marble.

would calcium reactor like this one" be better than using say a Alktronic and dosetronic together" to keep things stable
@fadetoblack.-5 жыл бұрын
Yes but you don't necessarily need this one there's a lot of great ones on the market.
@ReefBuildersVideo5 жыл бұрын
The practicality of a given dosing regime really depends on your tank's mineral demands - a nano can get by with simple water changes, dosing for average tank, it's really only when you get up to big volumes that CaRx is most practical. The alkatronic actually has some features to work WITH a CaRx.
