here in Finland we dont have a test`s at firt and second grade. and here all kids go to play outside, after every class they have a recreation and its a 10 min, 15min or 30min and first grade they schoolday are only 4-5 hours/day. have nice week to you all 😊

I have loved having staff and even our SRO (security resource officer) read to my students! 4 years ago when we had a goal of learning all 100 sight words in first grade, I did a 100 club. Those that read 100 (25 each quarter or sooner) they got to pick from the staff that I got involved and volunteered to listen to my students read to them one on one! My SRO was a popular choice. Then from there she read to our class often and it was a way we could get some excited to then take an AR test on that book that was read to them.

I wish that I had that when I was a student because it makes what would start off as even a little complex become so simple quicker and all it takes is a little trickery. Testing weeks are the worst. We still have to do DRA even though we’ve shifted to be more SOR aligned and it’s the bane of my existence.

I hate giving tests for the SAME reasons.......The tests we give are not my favorite and I hate doing F&P because it takes hours and it's useless.
