We started our first trip of this year 2023 with this amazing VR Express night train which is also called Santa Claus Express as it goes to Rovaniemi (Santa's Village). The train was amazing and that was our best train journey so far. We booked Lower Deck Sleeper cabin which was so comfortable our 12 hours journey was so smooth we didn't even realize that we were on a train. We slept so well and the food was also amazing. Below I am sharing some points about the train which might be helpful for you while booking your journey with VR.
1) VR Ticket Booking Website :- www.vr.fi/en/train-tickets
2) You can buy ticket from VR office which is inside Helsinki Central Railway Station and there are also VR ticket Wending Machines.
3) There are 2 types of Sleeping Cabins in the train. Upper Deck or First Class with personal Shower and Toilet inside Cabin. So First Class is little expensive than Second Class, 2nd is Lower Deck or Second Class which has sharing Shower and Toilet at the end of each Coach.
4) There are Seating Carriage also which are cheaper than Sleeping Cabins.
5) There are special Cabins for Handicaps, which I found so good.
6) Other than that there is Cabin for Pets, Luggage and Ski Equipment.
7) There's also bicycle stand inside the train so you can bring your bicycle also.
8) Booking 2Way tickets is always pocket friendly.
We booked Lower Deck Sleeper Cabin there we got 2 Bed, 1 small seating, 2 coat hangers, 2 water bottles, 2 small towels, wash basin, mirror and dustbin. Almost everything we need for 12 hour journey.
