Welcome to our 5th Video Log or should that be Van Log!
In this video we are fitting the Double Seat Swivel for the Ford Custom from Custom Shop Design.
This was quite an involved process which hopefully has been documented in this video. The tools you will need are as follows:
T55 bit for the 4 torque bolts
18mm socket for the nut
T50 bit for the seatbelt
Stanley knife for cutting the rubber and a hard board to go underneath when cutting.
Grinder to cut down the retaining stud.
Lots of tea and patience!

I cant believe how easy your locking handles lock. Ive just fitted one and its ridiculously hard to turn the handles to lock

Thanks for sharing this video 👍 I am just about to order one for my own conversion and have heard and seen so many different things about some people having to cut the bolts some not? Some needed loads of washers etc… so really appreciated seeing this so I could prepare myself for my own attempts 😃 Thanks again, great channel and great content #kudos

Thanks for your message. A bit of time and patience and all worked out well in the end! Loved having it and wouldn't be without it now. The only thing I've done is chop 4" out of the seat frame and then get it professionally welded. Absolutely no problem with the MOT and has been declared to the insurance company with no issues. When it comes to MOT, I'm not sure if they check the seats at all - I know they check seatbelts but not sure if they touch the chairs at all.

thx for sharing this, I just put mine in today from custom designs and i thought i had done something wrong until i watched your video. all works fine but does need to be accurate with bolt holes.

@Custom2Camper the only thing I don't like about it is the seat ends up raised by 50 to 70mm and you lose the space inside because the seat swivels so if you put anything in what could be a useful space like a diesel heater you can't.

We ordered this last week for our Ford Transit 2018 LWB, double swivel . But think we’ve been sent the wrong one as the front right hole is 5mm out of line. There is no way it will fit.The paperwork inside is saying ‘test paper’ for the transit custom. Trying to resolve it is proving a headache! Spoke to a woman on Monday as all she keeps telling me is that it will fit! @frustrated.con. Your video is great BTW.

I have just had the garage give me the van back after 4 hours on a basic transit custom saying it’s a poorly manufactures piece of crap we are not prepared to fit it! I have spent 2 hours looking at this and the drivers side rear hole/ fitting has been welded off centre from the base so I need to get the narrowest nut I can find tomorrow to see if a socket will go around it to tighten or it will have to go back, it will need shimming as there is a 4 mm drop to the front

It was a little high (about 40mm) so adapted the seat base and took 40mm out to bring back level with the drivers seat.

😂 Yes I almost didn't dare look either.....for anyone else doing this if you use a hooked Stanley blade you will have far more control over the knife and it will help to avoid it slipping. I'm a carpet fitter so I know a bit about knives slipping 😊

Thanks for the video very informative. Couple of questions. My custom has heated seats do you know if this would still work ok with the associated wiring. And hand in heart was it worthwhile? Your face was saying something different😂. Many thanks once again.

Very useful, thanks for posting this. I think you may have removed too many torx bolts though. There are only 3 plus the nut. The one near to the stud on the drivers side is not holding the seat down.

I've just installed mine today and the left side frame and chair side is flush with all the metal and body, the right side where it has a pertruding leg ready for the original bolt to go back on, like your mine is on a raised section. It makes it higher on the right side and finger ish gap. It's as if it should have been flat on the right side to make the base level. Now my chair isn't level and cause it's raised the frame part I'm sure is slightly bent so the 4 locks don't go in easy at all. To me it's a bad design as far as securing it down and being level. I had to do some cutting too which was fine but it's all gotta come out again to resolve it. Did you see the camper video and do what the other KZfaqr did and cut the legs down and re welded it to lower it 5 cm or so inline with the other chair? If you did. Did you loose the front plate by where your heals would be?

Good luck! My understanding of the heated seats is that people just disconnect them before swivelling them.

@@Custom2Camper ordered my double swivel yesterday, they were most helpful, like you say the recommended just unplug the heated seat , but if you put a note in the order regarding the heated seat they provide you with a hollow centre bolt ,Then it’s up to you if you extend the wiring . The tourneo is slightly different carpet design, they sent me a photo for some extra cutting, I’ll let you know how it goes .

It raises it up by around 4” but you can take that out of the seat base which I have done and makes a massive difference - it is then back to the same height as drivers seat.

@@Custom2Camper ok, but what I mainly want to say: Doesn't adding 6cm of height with the swivel base seat raise the entire double seat too much? So it risks being much higher than that of the driver, right?

Yes it does but there are ways to correct it.

Mine is a 2016 Euro 6 without heated seats. I understand you just unclip the heated seat connection before swivelling.

Hi. Thanks for posting this. 2 questions: Firstly are you still able to fit the drivers swivel seat too and secondly having used it for a while now is it easier to operate or does it become a bit of a chore? I'm really interested in these double swivels as it could really benefit my van build.

Definitely worth having and I didn’t have any problems fitting it like some people have. Now I’ve done it once I think I could probably do another much quicker and happy to help out with advice etc. as and when people need it. I found it invaluable looking at what others had done to get hints etc. Now we have used it a number of times, it gets easier to swivel and have it mostly down to a fine aren’t - probably could do the whole unlock swivel and relock in under 90 seconds now.

Did you not have issues with the reduction in head room? It appears to be around 4 inches.

Head room is reduced by 4cms not 4 inches. Yes it is a bit higher but well worth the height increase for the flexibility of a swivel.

I have recently bough a 2017 version and cannot for the life of me get the seat returned to forward facing position. The central bolt seems to be preventing it coming over far enough towards the drivers side by about 12mm. Is the central bolt just jamming or something underneath going on. It also took me ages to get it to swivel rearwards. The video makes it look very easy to use but anything but in my experience so far.

I found that sometimes the 4 locking pins fall down when swivelling and then catch on the bottom plate but the pins look like they are in the up position. I also know that some people have remove the felt washer between the plates where the central bolt is.

@@Custom2Camper Thank you. Indeed the locking pins were falling down. Also, the felt washer was jammed around the bolt and cam. Once removed, being careful to not loose the bolt, it now swivels nicely. Thank you for your kind advise. All the best.
