Whoa! What a treat to watch an hour and a half of incredible teaching. I also did book reviews in my class. I even had it as an early finisher for centers that they would turn in to me. I even had the class librarian put the reviews in the back of the book afterwards so others could read their reviews. I called it Firstreads.

Small group work was awesome!! When I was a first year teacher, and even now, all I wanted to see was small group work. I love that you can hear the rest of the class in the background. Kids are actually working while you are teaching a small group!

I love watching you teach. Just a recommendation. You should look up the Singapore strategy of model drawing for solving word problems. My first graders can solve any problem.

Thanks for your continuous effort to make videos. I know it takes a lot of time. I teach third grade but watching your videos gives me ideas for my lower students. Recently I’ve done the “switch it” activity that you’ve showed. Thanks again for all you do for the teaching community.

The book activity you described sounds like a book "tasting". I've seen teachers put tablecloths on their desks and plates as if it was an actual tasting, there are some cute ideas online. Love your kids' book reviews, hilarious! I student teach this winter and I've been watching your vlogs religiously. I appreciate everything you share and have learned a lot from you. :)

I'm watching and all of the sudden at 22 minutes, when they were uncovering the word and actually reading it, I started tearing up. So beautiful the way that you teach them how to do that. Amazing how far they have come in such a short amount of time!!!

Not even all the way through and am loving everything you do! Thank you so much for sharing these pieces of your classroom ❤️ How do you explain the “doubling consonants before a suffix” rule to your students? I teach second and they are still very confused with this.

I got those same task cards last summer bc you inspired me, but I never thought of using them in that way in small groups! I love the writing book! It makes me feel better that you have so many kids not reading yet also. I’m struggling with the wide spectrum of abilities. Some kids are reading end of first grade level, and some don’t know all of their letter sounds!! 🤷‍♀️

Yes! I love using them in small groups! This video is over a month old also 😂 now instead 12ish kids not being able to blend CVC words and read I only have 5! There's other things going on though too. Every class is different!!!! I've never NOT had a mix so I don't fret 😂
