This is one of the best, no nonsense solo games overview ever. Funny that I got these games as well. A point on Valley of the Kings: Aside from the solo mode included in the manual there are 3-4 different solo game modes derived for it, and the rules for these fit on a double sided A4 sheet. Bgg. Really should upload a video for it.

Great video really like the volume of games you mentioned and great descriptions and categories , looking more at whether a game can be played solo a lot more when buying a game to try and up my number of game plays.

Great list! Excited for part 2! Another portable solo game I think you will like is Palm Island, nice easy set of 18 cards in the palm of your hand. It’s beat your score but it’s a quick crunchy puzzle that plays in the palm of your hand. Cards are great quality, I believe waterproof or resistant. Anyway I love it! You should give it a try.

I like playing Wingspan in solo mode as well as Raiders of the North Sea (with expansions). I bought the solo game trough a French website and it was to my big surprice in French. It was not a problem my label maker could not solve. I like Raiders. Giv the solo mode a try. I buy a lot of games with solo mode as well because sometimes i am the only one who want to play a game. Keep up the good work and stay save.

I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. I really do feel that your videos are great. I like the idea of a video that covers a load of games and that isn’t a top 10 ( I still enjoy top 10s) so thank you for doing this. My particular favourite Solo solo/mode games are Robinson Crusoe, Mage Knight, Friday, Journeys in Middle Earth, Mansions 2nd Ed and the newest addition Wingspan. I do really like Onirim too. I’m looking forward to seeing you do your Shelf review with the Robinson Crusoe games. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Mystery Tales. Great vid. Appreciate your time.

I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this on the comments yet but I was searching for Coffee Roaster on the iOS app store and I found the Raiders of the North Sea solo deck in the app store for $1.99! I put Raiders off my list because you can't obtain the physical solo deck anymore but now you can buy the app deck! I prefer the physical game to the app myself so this would be perfect! Thanks for the solo breakdowns. Solo gaming is my jam. A Feast for Odin and Viticulture w/ Tuscany are two of my favorites.

I think the 3 Thunderworks Games work great as Solo Games (Cartographers, Roll Player, Lock-Up) which cover the small/light, medium, and large game categories. The expansion for Roll Player even adds an end game goal. Sprawlopolis, Sagrada, and One Deck Dungeon also work well (although I have moved to the ODD app). Mage Knight and 7th Continent would be favorite solo games but the time commitment (especially having to do all the setup and upkeep yourself) makes them offputting.

Solo gaming is a topic close to my heart at the moment, given my plan to complete a self-set challenge: "A game a day in May" will see me trying to play at least 31 different games in May, starting tomorrow! Some of the 'biggies' will include Architects of the West Kingdom, Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea, a selection of mini-wargames from Decision Games, and Leaving Earth (60-page rulebook and lots of number crunching!); but games like Awkward Guests, Arkham Noir, Marvel Champions, Raxxon and Pandemic: Fall of Rome will also be getting a look-in. The Pandemic: Rome solo mode should transfer over easily enough to Pandemic: Cthulhu, too, so I'm especially looking forward to trying that one out with solo rules...

Another good portable solo game that you never hear about in solo circles is Hardback. It's a clever word game with that plays well solo and multi player. Same size box as Villagers and Burgle Bros. You play against automa Penny Dreadful. What I like is that there is a track of letters that she scores from. The pace forces you to deny her points by figuring out how to make use of higher value letters before she scores them. This assembly line concept mitigates the randomness of card draws. It gives you time to plan out what to do about a card before she scores it. The cards also have effects, so the decision space isn't simply making the largest or most exotic words but coming up with words to utilize the letter cards you want to combo. Very clever game.

I've played Hardback, I liked it fine, but I prefer Paperback so I kept that one.

Feeling the draw from Hostage Negotiator. Was a bit disappointed to hear that luck features fairly significantly, but it can't be too bad or it wouldn't be rated so highly.
@TheBrokenMeeple4 жыл бұрын
It's a dice game so what you expect, that's the thing. It's also a very quick game so if you get bad luck, rinse and go again.

It's back in print. It was only sold around Korea/Eastern markets before, but Stronghold and DLP just brought it to UK/America - you should be able to get it now

I wonder why most miniature-heavy expensive board game ($100+) don't get mentioned often. I don't believe they're not good enough, but I want to think that most board gamers rather spend the same amount of money to get 5 different games, thus the lower amount of exposure and popularity to these behemoth. I wish people would cover these big box games more often.

I'm really surprised that star realms frontiers didn't make the list as a fun portable solo game
@TheBrokenMeeple3 жыл бұрын
The solo mode is decent, but not the best aspect of Star Realms. Plus perhaps I was thrown off a bit by the fact that my collection of Star Realms is far from portable - but for the set on its own that's not a bad call.
