operation christmas child is a good one for something similar - you fill a shoebox sized box with different things, they give you prompts, like something to love, something for hygenine etc :)

I love the gift idea for kids because I always tell my 7 year old to be thankful for what you have because not everyone have a lot of things. I have been wanting to read Flowerheart it sounds so good. One of my goals for next year is to read more middle grade books since my daughter is going to be introduced to that genre in a few years and want to give her options since I am a avid reader plus I don't feel like middle grade gets much love.

if you're in the uk, KidsOut do a yearly 'giving tree' for Christmas that's very similar and you can buy a present for a child that's then sent off! :)

My town, Albany WA, does the Salvation Army's Charity Bikers Toy Run... all the local motorbike riders cover their bikes in plush toys and ride their bikes on a circuit of the CBD. Then we all meet at the town square, donate the toys, plus the community can donate straight the SA trucks or bins, have a gold coin sausage sizzle etc. Its the greatest seeing all the big tough motorbike riders get around the foster kids/ DV Escapee kids.

I love that you talked about therapy! I have always struggled with the idea of going because it almost feels like a can of worms that I don't even want to open. Did you have feelings like that and if so how did you get over them?

My first time going to therapy as an adult was so hard. I was SA’d twice in my life and having to share that and other things I’ve been through was so hard and draining but I remember it almost becoming easier and rewarding as the sessions went on and I’m so glad I did it.

Kmart partners with the Salvation Army to do The Wishing Tree which is the same basic idea. You can buy and donate online if you don’t live near a Kmart.

I switched my therapist this year as my previous therapist had been cancelling on a regular basis. I feel I am going more in depth this time around. Thanks for addressing this.

First and foremost, I’ve loved watching your videos for a while now, but just never comment ☺️ but when you mentioned the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and that you’d love book recs with some Hollywood glamour vibes, I thought of A Sky Painted Gold by Laura Wood, I read it a few years back and still think about it. I think the best way to describe it Is… think Little Women + Elizabeth and Jane Bennett’s (from pride and prejudice) sister relationship meets the glitz and glamour of the extravagant Great Gatsby parties and drama. IT’S. PERFECT. Lastly, the Bible verse at the beginning of your videos is always encouraging and hopeful. Keep being the light you are on socials:)

What the heck is a gonk? Just another word for gnome? Or is it related to Christmas specifically? I’ve never heard that term before.

You also said if we had any questions about therapy etc we should ask them. I don't really have a "question" per say, but I would love to hear about your experience with medication for your anxiety. I know medication is a completely personal thing and it works differently for everyone, but if that would be something you would be comfortable enough to share I would love to hear about it. As I have anxiety myself, medication is always something I have considered, but never actually done so I like hearing about others experiences and what it was like for them. Obviously I know I am different person and I could have a completely different experience on the same medication, but I still like hearing about others experiences. So I would love to hear about yours if you're happy to do so!

I started going to therapy earlier this year as well and had to stop this month due to other financial things taking priority but I hope to continue next year sometime when I'm able to afford it more regularly. I definitely like to hear other people's experiences with therapy and how it helped them, but on the other hand if it gets talked about too much or they start talking about really personal things with their mental health it can be triggering for my own mental health. I think that talking about it in a separate video outside of your vlogs and book content would be good.

I just wanted to say with therapy.. I encourage others to go to their GP to get a mental health plan. The mental health plan gives you 10 sessions with a psychological a year (I think, although it may be less). Seeing a psychologist or mental health professional can be expensive.. so talk to your GP about wanting a bulk billed therapist so they can refer you to one. That way your sessions are completely covered by medicare. I will admit there is limited mental health care professionals that are completely bulk billed, but they do exist. I am seeing a psychologist myself that is completely bulk billed. So if the reason you're not seeing a therapist is because of financial hardship or feeling like you can't afford it, just know there is options out there and you're never alone. I encourage anyone to see a therapist, you don't even necessarily need to have a "problem" sometimes just being able to air out your thoughts and feelings to someone who is there to listen can be really beneficial. Let's break the stigma around mental health and therapy, it is completely normal and not something you need to be embarrassed/ashamed about x
