I honestly feel like a "low-maintenance" friend is a real friend just as much as a high-maintenance friend. It honestly depends on your lifestyle and regardless of what happens a real friend will understand when/if things change and be there for you. Yall can link when its best for the both of you and they won't make you feel bad for not being able to link as much as they might want.

Team low maintenance. I can’t socialize often. I’m an extroverted introvert and I need time to regroup and decompress. I’ve been an only child so I’m used to being by myself. Even the people you love can still be draining.

Low maintenance friendships are almost mandatory as an adult. Especially when you have a spouse and/or family. You can’t spread yourself thin. Wow your talk about friendships gives me hope. I’m almost 24 and I’m not good with making friends cause I was bullied during my teenage years so I never really developed great social skills. @OnlyOneJess I have singing trauma too from music school and talent shows and auditions. I’m classically trained in opera and I have so much anxiety around my voice that I don’t sing anymore. I understand your whole experience!

The same thing happened to me when I auditioned for xfactor here in the UK! I sang about 3 or 4 words and they told me thank u and goodbye!! I was in disbelief and kept the story to myself until now😂😂

I’m definitely a low-maintenance friend. I love my alone times and I don’t need to talk with anyone every day. The Every Plate meals look really good, so I’m going to try them. The more time I spend with GOD, the better my voice sounds. I couldn't sing for nothing before I got saved. I was a heavy smoker and drinker. I got saved at 33 and I'm turning 38 this year. I know when I'm fasting and seeking GOD consistently, I have more power behind my voice too. When my voice starts getting weak I pray for restoration of my voice as well. Thought I'd share because I had no idea you're a great singer until recently.

I don't think being low maintenance makes you a bad friend because it definitely works for some people but I also think there are a lot of people who call themselves low maintenance friends but really those people are depressed and anxious alone when really they need a more consistent community. It can be used as a shield to stay in isolation basically.

You can be a low maintenance friend and still be a great friend. Everyone is different and we are adults. But sometimes we can still improve and figure out away to find a balance for all parties.

I think we aren’t throwing the kickbacks and the cookouts because of all of the low maintenance friendships. Think about it… if people are collectively not reaching out and not making plans frequently because they’re too busy (life takes over sometimes), or they don’t feel like it, then those close bonds and friendships like we saw our parents have with people cease to exist or at least diminish. Our generation would rather create a fake sense of closeness using social media than actually being close. Also, random side note but yassss to all these DIY projects!

I use the blue painters tape all the time Jess and it works great. The key is you have to make sure it is really pressed firmly against the wall, so that nothing bleeds through. Your bathroom makeover is so beautiful. You have given me so many ideas.

There's nothing wrong with "low maintenance" friends, if they know you and still want to maintain a friendship with you I don't see the problem. For instance, most of my friends (myself including) are like you, some of us can literally go a couple weeks/a month without speaking (we also value our space) but our conversations always flows like we just saw each other a few days ago (granted I've known most of them for 12+ years but some I've met a couple years ago). On the other hand, I have "higher maintenance" friends who prefer to be in weekly contact with me so we developed a system where we send each other funny/cute media, quotes, random thoughts, etc a few times a week which works for me because I have a weird mindset, lol. Basically what I'm saying if all parties agree and respect each other - what's the problem?

I’m definitely a low-maintenance friend with low maintenance friendships. I don’t have to capacity to be giving my all to high maintenance relationships. That takes a lot of energy. All my friends are pretty low maintenance and I do NOT by any means think that makes people bad friends because they’re low maintenance people.

Hey Jess! Being low maintenance friends do not make us bad friends. At the end of the day, I show up everytime I'm needed, I'm supportive and I speak life into my friends. I have very few, but they're understanding to me not reaching out as much, especially my best friend. She makes sure we talk lol. But regardless, they know I show up for them no matter what. Keep doing that and you're good!

Giiirrrlll!!!!!! Idk what happened to my voice either!!! On low maintenance friendships in my life, I've learned to learn my friends so that we make our time together something of impact so we both see that we do care about each other and truly see each other. Communicating when it's a season we need each other more than usual has been helpful. I grew to have this security of knowing that the love I'm showed is genuine and I can truly say I'm loved by them. I never doubt my love for them coz I know I give them 110% even while they're far (lots of my close friends became long distance) and adjusting when the friendship matures or changes.
