Mixing wood tones is really popular right now, but I have always done it. You don’t want every room to be matchy- matchy. Also, don’t worry about things always being centered. A few things off centered is okay :) You’re doing great though. My advice is to just take your time. It’s always good to live in a house for a while prior to making big decorating choices. It’ll all come together in the end😊

This is probably something you’ve already thought of, but keep in mind you’ll probably have wedding photos/decor that you’ll want to incorporate somewhere in the house. Also depending on where you’re going, I think it could be fun to maybe find something artsy for the primary room while on your honeymoon! Just a thought - the home is coming together beautifully!

You honestly just seem like you have your life SO together. I found your channel when I was researching my symptoms before getting diagnosed with lupus 5 months ago and watching you be so healthy and productive gives me so much hope. I have had such a difficult time since getting diagnosed, trying to get my medications right and I also just moved to SO CAL and the state of my place is a reflection of how I feel inside health wise. All of this to say, watching you assures me that I will get back to normal eventually and I can be productive and happy and healthy again one day. Thank you so much for that :)

For the collage wall, you could continue it to the left side and doing a hanging plant or a long vertical vintage object on the right so it doesn't get too busy.

@Michael..a friendly suggestion… because I know aesthetics are very important to you! Take the long cord from the hanging lamp OVER to the corner inseam of the two walls. Adhere it to the corner using what ever attachment or adhesive you want on your walls. It will look much neater and less distracting!

I never comment but I just have to say how excited I am for this new chapter of your life with Jordy ( and to see more of him in your videos ). I went through something similar relationship wise , I was in an abusive relationship for 7 years finally broke it off gave myself time to learn who I was and love myself . 4 years later I attracted the love of my life who loves me and appreciates me like there's no tomorrow. I felt so sad for my old self , who settle for mediocre and abusive but so grateful to finally know true love and appreciation.I can't wait to hear all your future reflections and hopefully you can inspire others and show them what a healthy relationship feels and looks like. sending you all the love and light your way and keep shining !!!

For the master bedroom with sloped ceiling: I think a circular tapestry (taupes, creams with texture) over the bed would work and match your taste and the local vibes. Also: in the other room, I love the guitar hung on the wall in a way that you can easily take down to play. Maybe Jordy probably has other instruments that could be hung or on view in a similar accessible manner. My grandparents collected instruments from travelling around the world and I loved how they were both beautiful objects and used.

For your office, maybe put the shelves above one another but off center. Like not directly above one another, a little offset from one another. I think that’ll make the couch not look off ❤

Another potential idea for the collage wall, for that upper corner where you wanted to fill in something smaller: either a black and white photo of your wedding day, or a framed flyer of one of Jordy's shows (maybe one where he was part of a festival or something)--both of them would be modern objects but with a vintage feel...also the concert flyer idea could be a connection to the next "item" the eye goes to in the flow, which is your dad's guitar. Just a couple thoughts to consider.

Everything is looking great! Don't be afraid of mixing wood tones, is far more interesting than everything matching. Also, not everything has to be symmetrical so the shelves in your office along the wall will be great, as you can balance it with the decor you put on top. This is your guys house and you can fun with it and evolve it over time

I vote shelves in the couch room! You could do them one above the other, or slightly offset. I think they'll look odd next to each other the way you had them in the old space because the room is offset

I love mixing the wood tones! It breaks up the monotony and each piece truly speaks for itself. I know how much you love unique pieces- I would send you a cypress stump (I’m in SW FL near the Everglades so I go with what I know 😂) with the words of the song that y’all submitted with your bid for the house engraved on it. And…what a perfect wedding gift to have the closing date or your wedding anniversary date engraved below it. It’s something that tells your great grandchildren the love story of how they came to be! ❤ PS- one thing that I did was get cord covers off of Amazon to hide lighting cords. I painted them to match the wall color for a seamless presentation.

You know I’ve wondered something Michel, and I’m rarely on IG so I never get to submit questions, you mentioned in this vlog about gift-giving being your love language. In your former life, BC, I remember you mentioning that gift-giving is your love language to show love, but not to receive love. And I remember thinking that was odd because usually the way you show love is the way you understand love. So, now I’m wondering if that still applies? Or do you think you just convinced yourself of that because your ex-partner wasn’t good at gift-giving? Love everything you are doing. The gallery wall is stunning, I love the paint color! The shelves that your dad made would look great in either place and I like the mixing of wood tones however you can always stain them a different color, or paint for that matter. I REALLY like the brackets Jordy made for those lights. We need him to do a tutorial on how to make those. Thanks in advance Jordy! 😅

The William Morris Orangery print has always been a favorite of mine! I’ve wanted it for a long time, along with one of his other pieces. But alas, I need to paint first, I suppose! Edited to add that I got a little further into the vlog, and I think the WM print would look really good in the green guest room because it has a bit of green in it and you could put that fun green & white throw at the end of the bed. The one you got right after your surgery, I think, is the one I’m referring to…or even bring some orange and/or yellow into the room with throw pillows and a blanket. Also, I feel like in your office, the vertical ship painting that you put on top of your hutch, would look better if you swapped it out with the horizontal Cape Cod print. Last, your shelves that your dad made, would look good in the primary. You could put them in a stair type position, with the top one a little more to the right, and the bottom more to the left. I just did that with some floating type shelves and I love it !! It’d definitely add interest! Or, same idea in the guest bed. Just a thought or two…

I would PAINT the shelves and hang in one long line in the room with the desk, but hang it super high and put books etc on it. Painting will avoid it clashing in either room you put them in, and bring some new life to them.
