I did mine Without a hoist alone. Leave wheels on & drop the lot out. Jack the body up over the driveline & roll the lot out. Roll the v8 lot all bolted up with struts on and all. Wheel it under & bolt it all up in one go! Exhaust n all bolted on. Its so easy to line up. The last VN v6 I dropped the driveline out of ...took litrally like 15mins. I drove it into the shed. Rattle gun makes it so fast & easy. Body drops over the v8 driveline all in one go. When the bodys outta the way everything bolts up much easier no weird angles or extensions or even any extreme toungue out action. Bolt everything on the kframe wheels n all and roll it under drop it down & bobs my grandfather -Scott's my uncle.

I think they where a pretty stylist car for the time and the v6 alone to me hammered ! They still are a great car !! I’m enjoying working on this one !!

@@Trifiveguy*I had a VN (exact same colour) (Marinello Red) Executive Series 1 3.8 V6 T5 manual and it hammered. It ran consistent 14.95s @ 9OMPH at Willow Bank QLD back in 1998. It was a freak engine. It got thrashed hard and I never had a problem with it ever. I honestly think they had more power than 125kw and 293Nm that they had on paper. Either that or my motor was just a one off freak. A few of my mates at the time also had VN and VP 3.8 V6s, some manual some auto. All of theirs ran 15.5s, 15.6s. The closest to mine was also a VN Executive Series 1 T5 manual and it ran consistent 15.2s. I also had a mate with a VP Clubsport 5.O V8 with 18Okw with shift kitted auto and that ran 15.3s consistently. My VN was my first car and when I bought it only had 4O,OOOkms on the clock. I moved on to bigger and better things but I wish I still had it in my collection and never sold it. Just a bit of information from the memories of my youth. I'm really enjoying the videos mate.💯👍👍*

Car looks like it was a country car with all that red dirt/surface rust 🤔👍 Mine was a qld car all it's life until 2016 when I brang it with me to Vic, was absolutely spotless underneath, just covered in oil, typical Holdens lol It's a 89, ln3 turbo now ,converted to t5, aiming for around 400hp atw to begin with, stock rebuild with arp head studs for now. Been on blocks 3 yrs now lol not far off running now though, just needs an exhaust and a tune, should be mad fun when it's done 👌 Oh gonna do the vt brake upgrade too, more concerned about getting it running atm 👍

Only has 144k on it, pheonex red from factory with the tan interior, very odd combination from factory tbh but I love it cause it's weird cool ,it's actually why I bought it, it's a bit more unique than the sea of white vns with grey trims lol

Its my experiance since i dont have a hoist/lift but what i did in Europe/Netherlands wenn i put a 304 engine in my Opel Monza (=VK Coupe more or less) car was: Take old inline 6 out by leaving car on the ground and take engine and transmission out as one unit, then swap K frame and put the steering rack in and then slide engine and transmission in as a complete unit..

@@Trifiveguy yes in 2010 i was on a holiday in australia and after i was done with my trip i took the engine out of my VR 304 and all i needed to make it work and running in a Monza here meaning engine loom transmission shifter radiator and all bits and pieces i though i needed,i remember that day well 19 september 2010 the engine arrived here. It was a shit job to get it running meaning: I needed to get the startermotor replaced to the other side of the engine but there is no meat to bolt it on,so i made a 20mm thick L shaped bracket that i bolted to the side of the block and used a Chev hight torque powermaster 9000 starter (both chev and holden are GM and are 153 teeth ring gears). It was a big puzzle to get working, and the shit really started wenn the powertrain was in the car,it took me along time to find out why starter worked flawless out of the car on the engine but was doing click click click most of the time wenn the engine was in the car,i took the starter out 3x and its a shitty job,but it wasnt the starter that was dodgy it was the +12v that was too low so wenn i used a relay from the battery it works flawless every time as i drive that monza daily now cause my other Monza is broken.(i love the v8 sound and torque and as bonus u start know the people at the fuel station by name and caractor lol) A Monza has no rack but the old bulky recircling ball system so i needed a steeringrack...........I took one from a old Mercedes E (w210) class with the round headlight, then my brake booster would hit the valve cover so i took one from a later Opel Omega B (Ure VT-VZ shell design) and made it fit. I needed to make my own exhaust manifolds and i needed to make the speedo working thats cable driven but my box has a impuls generator and no cable exit and i needed to make a loom between my car and the Holden engine. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMCRd8R3ztadnYk.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n85ja8WhsbivqmQ.html kzfaq.infow8nFR0cDVw0

It would be easier to put the engine and transmission in from the top because you will have a hard time lining everything up in the shed despite Holden doing it that way when the car was built. That would've been the L27 engine that you would've needed for your VR ute !

*Didn't whoever installed the Hoist say anything like "That's a shit spot" with no clearance? What is the point of having a Hoist if you can barely lift the car off the ground. Obviously wasn't thought out well at all. I'd Fcuk that beam off altogether and put supports in a different spot. That's gotta be super frustrating in that position.💯*

Never took a engine out from the bottom before seems like it went pretty good for you guys. Think I would put it back in from the top. But that's just me lol. Looks so nice and warm over there with all those palm trees out side Maybe next video you could show out side would love to take a trip over there one day. O yeah be careful on that ladder lol Enjoy your stay brother👍🏻
