Been listening to VNV Nation for almost 25 years, since 1999 when they released Empires. Seen them perform live in New York, meet Ronan Harris in Toronto. What a carrier they have had - they define the alternative synthpop movement.

It's all about the words, the lyrics. I understand the criticism that the beats are derivative, but that's not why I listen to VNV. It's poetry and inspiration...the best part of my life the past 20 years. Thank you, Ronan, for the inspiration you've shone in my life. Hope you still have a "hat guy" here in Milwaukee since we all miss seeing you here.

the beats are maybe (sometimes) derivative (like everything today ) but some (many) of their songs have GREAT music. Like for example Before the Rain that has a fantastic melody and mood.

Its always been about his voice and lyrics really - though arguably, there is stuff from the Empires era that I thought was really cutting edge at the time for electronic music, and not just the lyrics/vocals.

As much as the lyrics in From my hands, Gratitude, Perpetual, All our Sins, When is the Future , Nova, Lights go Out, Before the rain, Beloved .are great they would not work without that excellent music.

Thank you, Ronan, for always writing anthems that get to the heart of the human condition-the ugly as well as the beautiful. Our apathy will indeed destroy us. I'm so grateful I have songs like these to blast + sing along with at the top of my lungs when I'm pissed and frustrated with the world as it is. (See: "All Our Sins") #catharsis

Never clicked so fast... EDIT: I think i just travelled through all the VnV albums, from Advance and Follow to Noire. I missed a bit the old agressive drops, but the OG industrial percussion was there. The video is stunning, i loved it. I need to hear it more times to identify all the lyrics (english is not my first language), but what i heard until now is AWESOME. Well done Ronan and the whole VnV crew

Exactly what I love about VNV Nation - ominous tune about mankind dancing at the end of the world, enjoying themselves as everything around them dissolves. Yet the music instills strength and power. In Before the Rain we had an intimate song, and Wait can't have a broader scope. And both are exquisite! Excellent, excellent.

Ronan, you're not only a synth-virtuosos; but, also master at observing and recording our social deficiencies in the most beautiful way through your music. You are always reminding ourselves that, as flawed as we all are, there remains a spark of hope, if we decide to actually use "It", instead of ignoring the signs, as most people will. We laugh at the seriousness of today's World Problems, hoping they'll pass along the way of time; but, waiting has been humanities fatal flaw throughout history. People watch injustice happen and say, "I didn't cause that to happen, because I'm not responsible for what my grandfather did ...." When indeed: It's a human responsibility to unravel our flawed past; to become empathetic to it's plight; to become and remain attuned to the "trigger's" and "circumstance's" of flawed thinking to confront the issues; to become impassioned to do what's "right", over what's easy and convenient ― Perhaps, I yearn for the impossible, but challenging through impossibilities' is exactly what we've done before.
