In this episode of Straight Talk Africa, host Shaka Ssali has an in-depth discussion with the former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.  Agyeman-Rawlings is the wife of the founder of the National Democratic Congress and one of Ghana's longest-serving leaders, Jerry John Rawlings. In her recent memoir "It Takes a Woman" she traces her early life and her rise to prominence as the first lady. Agyeman-Rawlings is a staunch supporter of women's rights and founded the 31st December Women's Movement, an organization with a mission to empower women, and address gender inequality, not only in Ghana but across Africa.

Nana's suggestion of a fusion of democratic governance and the Ghanaian cultural values is mercurial. But like I said she should have stayed in NDC and bidded her time to become President of Ghana, so could have implemented her mercurial suggestion.

This woman still has the qualities of becoming Ghana President. Mills is known as asomdwe hene but he disappointed Rawlings for not appointing Nana as his vice. He distorted the hardworking and sacrificial performances this lady put up for Ghana. No First Lady has worked like Nana!

I see Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings in the same light as Hillary Clinton. Nana is the best First Lady in Ghanaian history. It is time the country paid her her dues.
