@@ninersnation3298 Well, compared to 1.5 billion over 5 years allocated to provide misinformation and creates racial hatred to deflect economic and social problems at home and either Republicans or Democrat has to act hostile to win a seat. Why not invite students to come and see for themselves so they know what they are told and judge for themselves. Is that a bad idea? A total of 50000 students all over the world are on the list. US now need to allocate more to misinform.

Yes, it is so terrible that the invitation over 5 years amount to 50000 students. There will be a lot of wonderful stories to tell years later about how fantastic the trip is and learn to cross check information and not accepting what is just being dished out aren't that great?

The best way to counter lies and misinformation is personally visit the country i person and then compared to what has been told in home country. In that way, the future relationships of the country is more solid and not being sabotaged by a few that have the interests of their own and not the Nation's interest in their heart. They will become the best ambassador of friendship too with first hand experiences. Truth is hardest to contain when discovered.

I have been following the progress of China. Like many countries there are problems but in general they are most progressive. I wish the US would get their act together and be more progressive. China is a great example. Win people in other countries by kindness, trade and cooperation. If everyone pulls together we can all reach a better tomorrow. You students are so very lucky. Xi Jinping may be the most pro-American leader of China that the world has known. Cause he lived with common Americans, who treated him well, he knows how good Americans can be and that there is a difference between the Anerican leadership and the common American people. That is why despite pressure of the hawks in the Chinese establishment he still seems to call for calm and restraint despite the provocations and the personal attacks villifying him by the American establishment.

Gina Raimondo looking pissed that some elderly nobody from Nowhereville Iowa is sitting at the center seat reserved for "Distinguished Individuals and the Secretary of Commerce" all because the Premier of China said so. I can tell you that Xi Jinping likes Sarah Lande 10000 times more than Raimondo. That's funny as Hell. Well at least Lande is actually productive and taking notes while Raimondo just sits there fuming :)

I think both US and China have alr got their clear eyed assessment of each other and I don't think there is any illusion or misunderstanding on each other's position. Both sides want to be top dog and there are irreconcilable differences. So both have to compete without coming to blows! But people to people exchanges can soften the exchanges ... and who knows in time can change the whole trajectory althogether. I certainly hope so....for the sake of both countries...and the world!
