Voice of Baceprot (often referred to as VOB or V.O.B.) is a trio of talented young ladies who hail from a remote village in Garut, West Java, Indonesia. These artists are not just any ordinary musicians; they are a powerful force in the world of Hip Metal Funky.
Miss Marsya, the guitarist, vocalist, and lyricist, Miss Widi, the bassist and backing vocalist, and Miss Sitti, the drummer and backing vocalist, have been besties since their school days. All three share the same hometown, which is Garut. Their bond and shared passion for music have driven them to create some truly unique and hard-hitting tracks. One of their standout songs, "School Revolution", is a testament to their raw talent and musical prowess. As I settled down to record my reaction to this track, I was instantly gripped by the haunting vocals, which led into percussive, machine-like verses that set the stage for the uber powerful choruses.
The song "School Revolution" is a part of VOB's official release. Their musical journey includes other gems like "God Allow Me Please To Play Music", where they even have a live version featuring the Resonanz Children Choir. Their catalog doesn't stop there; from tracks like "The Enemy of Earth Is You" to the Sundanese instrumental "Kawani", VOB showcases a range that's commendable for an independent artist.
In addition to their original tracks, VOB also does covers, and they do them justice. Their renditions of classics like "Enter Sandman" and "Chop Suey" are highly recommended. Established in 2014, these girls, with two born in 2000 and one in 2001, have achieved a lot in a short span. From tours in Bangkok to their first European tour in 2021 and even an American tour in 2023 for their LP "RETAS", VOB is setting the stage on fire.
