That last note I counted 18 - 19 seconds? Lara does a wonderful job telling us the story & she uses her speech singing & weaving in and out of the various styles/technics as she pulls us in closer with every word. The Queen of Story Telling with speech singing is “Dolly Parton” who turned 78 years young. Dolly released her 30 track Rock & Roll Album titled “Rock Star”. She called everyone herself & she collaborated with the most treasured Rock Stars starting with the two of the Beetles that are still alive. All proceeds go to charity, I am not sure there is anyone else who would have been able to get the 11 Rock Stars to join in on this project. **Lara is buddies with “Gabriel Henrique” from Brazil. It has been a very longtime since you have reacted & analyzed a song from him. Lots of ❤️ from, Timothy in Tallahassee, Florida 😎🌴

I never thought I would want to hear anyone other than Lara sing this song. But, after hearing your vocalization of just a few parts and with your understanding of the emotion with which Lara performed, I honestly believe you could pull it off. If you ever decide to attempt this performance, I would love to see it. And even your being not in top health, I am thoroughly impressed with your singing, what small bits we witnessed is a blessing. Thank You for sharing!

Not only is the word painting in Lara's performance absolutely sublime, but it even extends to the arrangement itself. Right before the a capella passage, she sings that if she carries on at the same rate, she'll die alone singing to herself - after which the instruments drop out and literally leave her to sing alone. Just a masterpiece of a performance, and an excellent analysis of everything that makes it so great!

Lara is Belgian, but lives or lived in Canada. She was hitting the pop charts same time as Celine who is Canadian. (Could be why you hear common vowel placement) Lara had her own independent label. Celine had signed with Epic records. They both released music in the U.S. in the 90's and well we all know what happened. Lara got buried by Epic. They made sure she didn't make it in America because her sound was too much like Celine and even a little better. Lara did make it throughout the rest of the world. She is multi-lingual and I've listened to her since the 90's. May I also say you are the most informative, funniest and most entertaining reactor. Your Knowledge of music as well as human anatomy is astounding. (I'm a retired nurse I can talk about anatomy 😂) Thanks for always making me smile 😎

This is my favorite Lara Fabian performance. It's just executed perfectly. You didn't let the video run on after she stopped singing, but those of us who have watched it know that she doesn't drop character; she stands hunched and hurting, still delivering the song's message. Incredible. She is an accomplished actress as well as a magnificent singer. After seeing this performance a few times, it dawned on me that this is the universal female lament about the mating dance. The top 5% of men (Chads), superior in wealth, intelligence, physique, and confidence, have options and they exercise them; but those are the men most women want to nail down. Settling for a beta male doesn't appeal. Chads = heartbreak and drama; betas = boredom and dissatisfaction. Lara gives us a taste of what it's like to pursue a Chad without success. Dimash fans (yes, I am one) will point you to 'Te Amo Cosi,' in which Dimash, Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina join forces to sing together at a concert honoring Igor Krutoy's birthday. Aida is a famous operatic soprano who is terrific. Lara sings in a more pop style, warm tones, gentler vibrato. Dimash somehow complements both of them. It's great. Typical of Krutoy, mixing and melding different genres into a single song. And it's a pretty upbeat song, you won't need tissues for that one. :-)
@ericsicard910
@ericsicard910 2 жыл бұрын
Your chads/beta approach of the song may be a way to see it and I don’t know how Lara approached the song in her mind, but this song initially has been written by a french male singer, Serge Lama, about his own desperate love story. So this is not the initial intent. And you can thus understand why the lyrics are a bit “male-oriented” : my mother leaves me alone, drinking whiskys, I pour my blood into your body, …

Thank you so much for your knowledgeable review! Very much appreciated. Our then young Queen, Lara, long may she reign, may have given here the most amazing performance I have ever seen by anyone...ever. There is a massive world of Lara ahead of you and her worldwide army of adoring fans will be there with you. It is not just Dimash (the prince?) who talks about Lara being his idol, but most of the young darlings talk about Lara as a, or the, key inspiration for them. I think of them as Lara's children. Lara is the least well known of the giants of the last 30 years but in my view, the best of them. The O.G.

Most of links in this post below are newly restored and of high quality and, importantly, all have English subtitles when not sung in English. Have fun... "Adagio" -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNefhpB8tLK6j2g.html - is a beautiful and powerful song, a very old classical piece written by Tomaso Albinoni (most would say) which she resurrected and wrote lyrics to. Her biggest hit really, and an insane demonstration of vocal flawlessness and passion by our then young Queen...long may she reign. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLZiftF9ytO4Z2w.html - turn CC on - Lara Fabian - "Caruso" (In Italian with English lyrics translations) Great Song about the great Caruso's dying days with his young wife. An Italian classic covered by, well, everybody. Lara crushes it. Best version ever and that includes Pavarotti, whom I adore, so I am saying a lot there. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obByeqZ6nce3dWg.html - Lara Fabian-Concert From Lara With Love "Broken Vow" (English) She wrote this, bring tissue. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o8mdm6aXrZ-zloU.html - turn CC on - Lara Fabian "Perdere L'amore"...Losing Love... (Italian with English subs) Another Italian classic, destroyed by Lara in perfect Italian. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNxoi6mJsL62fH0.html "You're Not From Here" English - Maybe my favorite Lara song. The 100th time you see\hear it will still feel like the first. Lara is definitely the deep end of the pool. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etuDd8ebupq3aIE.html - Lara Fabian- "Mademoiselle Hyde" - live 2016 (In English with Deutsch/Português subs) She co-wrote this with the maestro, Igor Krutoy. This is the most recent of the videos (2016) and shows a maturing Lara killing it. Great song, evocative, and as always, Lara sells it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/op5iadWdp7XSaas.html - Lara Fabian - "Je T'aime" (I Love you) - (In French with English subtitle) Everyone in France knows this song. She wrote it. Two versions here. One, here in this paragraph, is a great version in its own right, the second is from a live performance where the audience takes over the song and sings "We love you" to Lara in place over the actual lyrics "I love you" and a broken up Lara attempts to sing counterpart to her adoring audience. Tissues required. I recommend doing the last one, the 2nd version of "Je T'aime" below.....last. By then, you will be in a life long relationship with Lara. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJlgbNiF056po4k.html - Lara Fabian - Je t'aime _ with English subtitles maybe watch this last (see one up from here for "why").

Hi there. Thank you for reacting to this song, it's one of those that always gives me the chills. I also wanted to let you know that even if I've watched more people reacting to different songs, you're the only one I subscribed to and whose videos I watch every time. You're very entertaining while being all-natural in your style and what's more important, you know so much theoretically and you can show in practice, too, that's amazing. I love your anatomical explanations. Thank you for putting your time and effort into this channel. Please, keep it up!

Ooh, I'm so happy to see a reaction to Lara from you! That whole concert is amazing, you should definitely listen to more of the songs there (Adagio, Perdere L'amore, Caruso, to name a few). I love that you explained the mouth movement, I always wondered what purpose it served. It must be pretty hard not to move it too much to change the vowel but then again she's masterful at her vocal control, so this must be super easy for her hehe. Also re: chills, imagine sitting at her concert for two-ish hours. Yep, full body chills and goosebumps for the entire thing. That was me. 😁

I watched this again! 😆👌👌 you are absolutely a joy to watch! You KNOW your profession well!! 👌👏👏👏 Of course I hope you will pick many more LF songs! She has fascinated me since I have discovered her last year. I have found out as much as I could about her, including quite a few “voice” coaches. None compare to you, not that they were bad, but your explanations are easier to understand, your bits of humour is also very attractive, a crack up even 🤣😆 and your enthusiasm tops it all. Because of that you remind me a bit of Ms, Fabian, in that I look at you as a bit of a performer while trying to explain to the fans what Ms. Fabian is doing to get that beautiful voice out of her mouth I hope that you’ll do another LC… Such as “ you’re not from here.” It’s a j song with a beautiful melody,, with an ending that will astonish you.. take care, hoping yo

Lara Fabian is Canadian (from Montreal), Belgian (Belgian father), and has an Italian mother, so she fluently speaks French, English and Italian. She's also fluent in Spanish, but I'm not sure what's the story behind that lol. I believe she sang in like 11 different languages or something like that as well. I would definitely say that French is her first language tho. Also get well soon

You are the only reactor to address what has been a question in my mind since first watching this video a year ago (if the quivering of her lips during the straight tone at the end could actually be on purpose). Thank you for the great reaction.

She is such a wonderfully emotive singer both vocally and emotionally. If you can't be 100% invested, why bother, right? Easy to see why she and Dimash are such close friends. May I say she is also a beautiful lioness creature?

I'm French and I know that song very well since it came out in 1999 when I was 20 and I especially love the part 08:17 when she sings "Cet amour me tue..." It's so moving! I get goosebumps every time! lol For your information, that song "Je suis malade" was written and sang by a French singer called Serge Lama back in 1973. Great analysis by the way! ;-)

This is one of my favorite reaction channels, always a good mixture of analysis and anecdotes. Plus with this you've now covered three of my most favorite artists/bands. The song is a masterpiece, especially this performance of it, that's just how it is. For me one of the most shocking parts of this performance was what happened after you cut the feed, when she's standing in front of the audience looking like she just left her life on the stage. In a way she probably left a piece of her soul on the venue.

Love love love this reaction video of yours. First, as a general rule, I love watching vocal coaches react to this rendition of Je Suis Malade by Lara Fabian, because you pick up and recognize what she does is so damn perfect from a technical level and are able to relay what she's doing, how she's doing it, and why it's so f*ckin nuts... (won't even go into the beauty of it if you know nothing of vocal technique) but also... the faces you make while watching this performance comfort me because I make the same! Hahaha!

I love how you used the performance to help give tips. Lara is a master class in everything she sings in some way. She would seem to be a gold mine for vocal coaches, as she demonstrates so many wonderful techniques (which aren't really that, as she is so authentic). She makes singing look so effortless that it is boring for those not really "into" music but for those who are, she is a real find...always something to feel and learn in watching her. Thanks for pointing out a few of them. I hope you do more reactions and analyses of her songs.

Lara is my favourite female ballad vocalist because she just drenches the song in absolutely genuine emotion... she doesn't sing it, she LIVES it... hard... every time. She'll get up there, tear out her heart and leave it beating on the stage for you. And, after a song she's often left visibly shaken. That is something that I never really got from Celine and what, for me, really separates the two. It's the difference between a naturally gifted singer and a naturally gifted storyteller. If you can find her "Live a paris" DVD, there's a point where the audience unexpectedly begin to serenade her before she even gets her song started... and she is so utterly choked up by it all that she struggles to even get back in because of the knot in her throat. And, you know what, it doesn't even matter : ) Her audience are so connected with her that they wouldn't even care if she sat the whole song out. It's quite something for a singer to have such a connection with their audience that they don't even have to sing :D Celine may be technically perfect, but Lara connects. Celine can play her instrument... but Lara can play YOURS ; )))
