Yes! Using the false folds similar to Kargyraa style throat singing is called “throat bass” in beatboxer terminology. Gene also used it a bit for brief moments but as much as much as John-T is here. There’s lots of fun extended vocal techniques that beatboxers use, I really suggest Stitch - Feels Like Nothing for a vocal coach to check out!

As someone who can do that bass (which is called throat bass in beatbox), the high bads note he ends on is so insanely hard to do. More Jairo is a great start!

I love seeing thoughts about beatboxing techniques from vocal coaches! Definitely a must-see would be Den’s GBB 2024 wildcard. He has super interesting uses of inward vocal techniques that are definitely worth checking out!
