I am an old man who has loved music all my life ; all genres, styles , whether totally individualistic , or regimented . I have never heard anything to compare with this astonishing performance . Occasionally, I have wondered if there could be a place even beyond beauty . There is , seldom visited , until now ----- WOW.

Your reaction and analysis of Marcilito's singing was very well done. You had the right play/pause and explaining of the details was very helpful. I'm interested in the vocal tools to be able and capable of singing from baritone to tenor. Marcilito has a wonderful gift to be able to move both men and women to goose bumps and even tears. He hits the nail on the head and goes further than just entertaining to captivating.
@rampar774 жыл бұрын
Nice reaction. Did you notice his high falsetto head voice and the smooth transition in the same breath to the low tenor chest voice, and his mixing of notes from man low to man high yet it was different to woman high? He also hit the notes exact. His vibrato was also excellent. He obviously is a master of throat space manipulating. He was also good of singing all the details of Celine including the vowels, and the French accent? Plus his effortless control of mouth and facial expression even he was sitting down. You should review his 'Prayer".

About Marcelito Pomoy I been reading or watching shows about him,I've learnd that he grow up an orphan,lives in prison with his father for two yesrs and give away for adoption he has only a 3rd grader level education.I also love your reactions on everything,his pronunciations, we have over 7 thousands islands and different languages defirent accents,so some of us sometimes being criticize on our pronunciations.I think for a child grow up with a third grader Education and no one thought him how to sing, learning by himself while working in a poultry farm,while tending the chickens, that's determination on his part, that should be a great achievement on his part.That is his accomplishments to be proud of.I salute you Marcelito Pomoy You make our Country proud, Philippines.keep it up always be humble and believe in God. Leonila Cloud when i was new in the US i had a very good diction coming from la salle but i sounded like a foreigner for pronouncing certain words wrong like circumstances or precedent and i dressed like a typical filipino with a sando even with a white shirt but over time i was losing my philippine accent and i was dressing like an american, took me sometime to understand why there was laughing in the background for the dialogue and the best way is to live with a native born speaker, of course some filipinos are really fortunate having been born in the US or came at a very early age.

"To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born in the Philippines into a broken family, his mother left the family when he was still at a very tender age of 2 years old and his father ended up in jail, with no relatives wanting to help, Marcelito had no other choice but to join him and stay inside the jail with his father for such a long time. Eventually one of the prison guards took him home and provided his needs while his dad had to continue serving his prison sentence. He studied kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in grade school in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so at a very young age of about 7 years old left the only home he ever knew and walked the streets of Manila in search of his mother whom he really never knew, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the streets. All that time he learned to humm and sing himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, peddling ice cream to earn a few cents, he did fixing the pinballs up in bowling lanes daily, earning about $1 USD so he has food to eat then sleep on street curbs for several years, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on imitating any singer he could watch on other people's TV singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. He worked cleaning chicken pens in huge chicken farms and sang to the chickens while cleaning their pens and it was while singing to his audience of egg laying chickens that he discovered he could sing both a male and female voice when he was 18 years old. We will never know if the hens produced more eggs while Marcelito was serenading them !!! He honed his skills on his own without any vocal coach to teach him because he couldn't afford to hire one then and after gaining confidence in singing other artists songs copying exactly the singers breathing pattern, diction, way of delivering their songs, etc, joined a Philippines TV network conducting a singing competition in Manila. He passed the audition and went on the semi finals and grand finals.. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. His monetary prize was such a huge amount to him that he never imagined he would be able to own in his lifetime as a grade 3 school educated adult. He signed a record contract with the recording studio arm of the same TV network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just barely touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his KZfaq videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost any song in so many different languages with the help of a diction coach but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in manila, he bought a decent home with his earnings from the singing contest and is one of the most sought after performer in the Philippines with concerts in Canada, Dubai, Spain and so many other countries. He married his girlfriend and they have a child now to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He was able to reunite his mother, father and siblings. His father had to return to his own family but joins them from time to time. Marcelito has now returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer's are Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli and the PRAYER is his favorite song that he said launched his successful singing career. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he did with Celine Dions songs, etc. The one thing that amazes me is that despite the millions of pesos he earns each year ... he remains as humble as a child and he had not allowed the riches of the world go thru his head unlike so many people who changed their character when they became wealthy. Only God can give Marcelito Pomoy a humble heart with all the success he and his family are now basking in... !!! I hope I have shed some light on Marcelito Pomoy. Let's not forget he still is in his grade school level education but he's getting there. I'm Mr. Briones, from the Philippines, too, like Marcelito is, but I've migrated to Australia living in the beautiful city of Sydney. I'm sorry if I've stepped on the toes of one of your viewers talking about his life story. I wanted to explain further in detail Marcelito Pomoys' life story. God Bless us all. Thank You, Mr. Briones for you beautifully written story of Marcelito Pomoy. It was very touching and had tears in my eyes while reading his story. I am a Filipina, who was blessed to have grown up with privilege so, MP’s life hardships are very clear in my mind. I left the Philippjnes in 1970; after 35 yrs, I went back to visit and was so shocked at the level of poverty that our kababayans have to endure. I have travelled many 3rd world countries in Asia but sadly, I must admit that I had never encountered the kind of poverty that afflicts our ppl. I am more than thrilled that MP found success in life and has managed to continuously acknowledge that his talent is a gift from God and has, therefore, remained humble. I pray that money does not corrupt him (like it does to many) as his humility is a big part of his charm. Once again, thank you!

RnB tnx again for that detailed technical analysis of Marcelito's, I luv it. BTW, here in the Philippines many can do dual voices but Marcelito, who won the Pilipinas Got Talent, as you said is the "cream of the crop" because of his crisp, clear, on point and almost perfect female voice. And in the Philippines using of Autotune (especially pitch correction) and even Lipsync is Taboo or kinda Mortal Sin 'coz its cheating, that's why singers here always do it live. We have a saying that "if one has a talent better show it and not hide it" otherwise it would be the end of one's singing career. Awesome reaction.

Notice at 7:23 his pronunciation of 'frightened' the 'f' is more of a 'p' sound. This is actually a good thing for me because a lot of my friends at first believed he's just lip singing. I find that the easiest way to prove that it's his own voice is by showing them that small imperfection.
