Vocal Coach Reaction to Billie Eilish | When The Party's Over | Live | Ken Tamplin
Billie Eilish is the first artist born in the 2000s to have a number one album in the US.
At 17, she’s off to a pretty good start in her career. She’s also the youngest female artist to ever have a number one album in the UK.
Billie has been writing music since she was 11 and got her start singing publicly in the Los Angeles Children’s Choir.
Her brother Finneas helps her write and produce her music and he produced all 14 of the tracks from her debut album which contained four US Billboard Hot 100 top 40 singles.
With only one studio album released, Eilish has eight gold and four platinum singles in the United States.
For today’s reaction I’ll be looking at a performance of “When The Party’s Over” on the Howard Stern Show. I was really impressed with her spot-on pitch and the beautiful harmonies.
I hope you all enjoy it and please make sure to share your feedback!

Well pretty much all of her music is written out of her real life experience so far. She's young and this one is a 'love song' sort of. I think you always perform better if you write your music straight from the heart. Hope she can keep this flame alive because I don't really like the music/genre of hers per se, but I do like her as an artist and human being.

In know people expect me to be a "power vocals only" kind of coach, but I am not. There is something very haunting, dare I say "ghostly spiritual" about her singing. This is true for Lana Del Ray as well. Without drawing too many conclusions, her mesmerizing vocals carry a dark overtone to them that seem supernatural, haunting. It is for the listener to draw their conclusions.

Billie and Finneas’ parents (they are brother and sisters who co-wrote and co-produced the entire album from their bedrooms) had a rule where they wouldn’t make them go to sleep if they were making music. They work so intuitively together because they have been creating since they were kids! Fun fact

I recon every singer/artist tells a story with their own way of singing. Its their expression to how they connect with the song. And how they tell it will make the listener feel the same emotions. She's brilliant and beautifully talented 🤗💗💖

I just found this reaction video. I love your analysis to it! I am not just captivated by Billie but by Finneas as well. I always found Finneas' harmonizing with Billie very good in this performance and many others. He's delicate enough to not overpower her and really sounds like he's in the background. And harmozing in high notes? Ugh. Finneas is a genius. I suggest you watch his interview on Jimmy Fallon where you will hear the 'hidden' sounds they use in the production of the song bad guy. I just think it's fun. Oops, now this is too long, gtg. Haha! More power to you!

I would love for you to do a reaction video to a Canadian singer. His name is Jim Cuddy. I think he is amazing and probably the rest of Canada does too. The most popular tune would be "Try". There are many versions on You Tube. Thanks for your positive vibes, love your videos and your stories!

Ken you should react to the Pentatonix version of this it is very different but has it's own emotional tone, still very soft with a little more positive wave of emotions, were Billie Eilish version is like raw sorrow over something really good coming to an inevitable long foreseen end.

Ken, your reaction to Billie was great. I do agree that she has great pitch control. What she is doing is really difficult, really exacting. But it is a little too soft and sweet for me after a couple of minutes. I am interested in what kind of variation she can bring to her future performances.

Look at her back catalogue and covers- there is already a huge scope of variation. She can be clean and bright, soft and breathy/husky, she can belt. She can do lofi and slow or poppy and upbeat. It's all there already.

A couple great live performances that no one does and few seem to know about are Savatage-Hall of the Mountain King Japan ‘94, Mr Big-Daddy Brother Lover Little Boy Tokyo ‘91 and Slaughter-Fly to the Angels MTV unplugged. All three are better than studio versions which is saying something I think, considering how powerful all those songs are. I’d love to see what you think of those performances
