It was live here. He sings this song a lot at his solo concerts and he always sings it live. At the premier performance at the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games, it may not have been live, but we didn’t see much of Dimash, we just heard him, since the camera was mainly on the athletes carrying their flags around the stadium. The best version of this song imo, is at one of his solo concerts and that performance can be found on Igor Krutoy’s channel. Igor wrote this song specifically for Dimash’s range for the 2nd European Games, so it wasn’t written for a male and a female to sing. Having said that during the early rehearsals of the premier performance, three singers were employed to sing it and the soprano couldn’t reach the highest notes apparently!

Dimash is always on the air - and if you watch several versions of performances - and he has a whole bunch of them - you will understand that every performance sounds at least a little bit every time - but in a different way!) Dimash has fan clubs in every country of this world!))) and there's something else I want to say- Dimash's concerts wherever they take place - in any country - people come from all over the world) up to 50 countries!

Whether this performance was truly live or not doesn't matter to me. I've seen other performances where it is live, and sounds just as impressive. And Igor Krutoy composed this piece for Dimash so the lows and highs were meant for him.

It is my understanding that this one is not totally live but he has other versions that are fully live and sound just as spectacular.

You would probably have done better watching the fancam version from Astana concert. It's so close up you can see practically every movement of his mouth, jaw and throat. There's moments his larynx actually disappears and his throat hollows out when he moves into the highest notes.

Opinions vary from one singer to another depending on what you personally resonate with, but I don't cry easily and the first time I heard Akkuym (MV version specifically) and the first time I saw Olympico I cried. No one loves all the same stuff, the world would be boring if we all sought out exactly the same kinds of enjoyment and joy in the world. I love all kinds of music, anything that can bring you joy or support you through sorrow is good stuff in my book. I never understand how what some people like and someone else doesn't becomes some big disagreement. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If you do, then seek it out. It was a sports opening ceremony. So ofcourse it was live because if you see well again, there is an Orchestra behind people. They were playing drums,violins etc 😊🎉🎉

It was really a live, I saw the rehearsals with Dimash and all the singers, it's very rare that he does playback, except when certain TV shows don't allow it, for example. And all the singers had a microphone in front of their mouth, not in their hands like Dimash

There is a wonderful fancam version of his Arnau Kinetic Voice concert performance of Olimpico that focuses on his face for the entire song. You can see every mouth movement even tiny shape adjustments, lip and throat vibrations very visibly. I've watched all available performances of Dimash singing Olimpico and the only time his vibrato was a tiny bit shaky in parts was when he was singing on a small round disk trying to keep his balance while it moved over the ice rink in the air to the other side then down to the ground with nothing to hang on to. Argh! Scary to watch him do that! Someone asked a fellow vocal teacher to describe Dimash in one word and he said "Fearless". I couldn't agree more. You should watch his opening number at the recent Almaty concert! The term "throat in mouth " comes to mind.

I was in his concert in Düsseldorf last April. He sang 24 songs. One of them was Olimpico. It was a large arena and I was very close to him. Yes, he sings life.The orchestra music is prerecorded, but his band is life. I recommend you to watch one, or all three parts of his Stranger concert in Almaty last September. You make a very valid point that people should just accept. Singers have to abide by the requirements of the organisers and broadcasters of large productions/events/tv shows where technical mistakes can't be allowed to happen. It has nothing to do with the choice of the artist. As much as some fans want to argue this point, if Dimash does his job well, we simply don't know. Years ago Milli Vanilli caus3d a big scandal because the truth came out that a third person was actually the singer. As long as Dimash doesn't do that I don't really care whether he sang in the studio or the stage at these big events.

Keep in mind that this performance has been replicated live a number of times and is included in his digital concert. The Arneau concert version where he's wearing the same outfit was also live and the most recent Almaty concert version has become one of my favorites. One aside - Dimash has been known to end a song and drop his hand with the mike, singing with no amplification. No problem. Have you heard Across Endless Dimensions yet? He also does that trick of shaking the mike that proves he's live - Unforgettable Day, Gakku performance is the one with the D8.

Dimash is currently living in Las Angeles. Attending the L.A. branch of the New York School of Fine Arts majoring in Film Directing This on the heels of him having completed his Doctoral studies and Dissertation. He has some well knowns wanting to meet him and have lunch with him. This is of course a temporary residence, and he has already returned to his beloved Kazakhstan once for his Grandmother's Birthday party then back to L.A. People have also been shocked by his already well developed skills in film directing. He continues to shock and amaze but is a clear example of fully dedicating himself to his art.

The chorus has wireless mics on. So far there have been very few Dimash performances that aren't live, mostly the few music videos he's done. Dimash is such a perfectionist that he'd probably refuse to use anything pre-recorded. He's been accused of using auto-tune, which I firmly believe he would refuse to do... he doesn't need it. In fact, that is why during a couple of his songs he moves the mic from side to side to prove there's no auto-tune, because auto-tune cannot react that quickly and would be quite noticeable.

For your own pleasure, and for comparison, I would recommend his most recent live performance of Olympico at Almaty (Stranger concert Almaty video 1 at 17.50 mins in) - to my very untrained ear he seems to have strengthened his delivery of this song and there are some subtle extras (eg I think I noticed some different onsets ?). Anyway, enjoy.

Es gibt ein paar Lieder, wo Dimasch improvisiert nicht und es ist immer da, wo Orchester und Chor ist aufgenommen, weil nixh jede Bühne ist fur solche Auftritte geeignet.
