Song So-hee is famous for her breath control. She holds a long clear note for an impossibly long time, then continues with flourishes on the same breath.

Some people seem to know her as a pansori singer but actually she's a minyo singer. Pansori and minyo are two different genres in Korean traditional music.

Omg what are the odds that there was another song sohee request!!! Absolutely stunning!!! the thing you said about it having a feeling of sorrow, that exact feeling is the essence of pansoori/gugak singing. Without pain, sorrow and longing you cannot perform it. Thats the beauty of it ♡ The way she performs is still a very "mild" version of those typical techniques but she does it incredible. Also, its important to note that korean has a certain vowel sound (written as "ㅡ")and its hard to describe what it sounds like, kind of like someone giving a punch on your chest and you go "oof" and its made with the jaw and teeth kinda halfway closed like what you picked up on in those long notes, which might be a factor in how the sound is produced. Im super excited about the other song by her that i requested omg so excited it was awesome to see a vocal expert be stunned by the technique wowwww Cant wait for the other one!!!

To her benefit she credited Sohyang's version "more than 100 times better" than her own. Her last arrangment/performance on Immortal Songs 368 of "Tearful Dooman River" is mindblowing, a new approach to singing. There you can totaly evaluate her skills, as she is sitting on the floor, singing a cappella most of the song. Engorge.

Great reaction! Love your technical expertise. Song Sohee really is a true virtuoso with her instrument(voice). We love her blend of traditional and more modern pop/ballad fusion style. She isn’t really showing her full voice here so please do check out tearful Tumen River performance. It is heart wrenching and shows her voice more fully. There you can really hear the traditional, Gugak Style (here it's very light). It's so good! This will really blow your mind! Oh, and I love the song! It's written by the lady on the piano, Ahn Ye Eun (she's written in the title as well)! One of my favourite singer and songwriter. She's a songwriting genius. Maybe you can her out as well? She has kind of unique style and a very unique tone, a bit traditionally orientated as well. I can recognise her voice our of thousands. Please check her "Kakotopia" (more in rock direction) for example. Or "Waltz". Or "Proust". (More ballad)

Love her voice and her songs, maybe that is why your video is recommended. Not a Korean native and in the industry, but I think the language itself plays a role. Like the t sound with extra air is actually a sound in Korean.
