Wonderland, a song somewhere between unexpected and masterful, is a great progy, jazz rocker with touches of funky elegance wrap around a mid-tempo, storytelling, epic soundscape. In other words, as Ryan Mear and Chase put it, ”Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things!”😊 But I think Kanami and the girls produce the most dense yet completely integrated music for any hard rock band in history. And if you isolate Saiki's singing, it's amazing how many runs and vocal techniques she uses, especially in songs like No God and Wonderland, etc.. But she can be overlooked because of the flurry of notes and sound flying around her. You gotta love these super polite, unassuming geniuses that become warriors on stage and in the studio! Thx Emma, for another great reaction to the greatest hard rock band on the planet!

Thank you. For a perfect example of the power of Saiki's singing I recommend a double feature. The live Full band version of "Puzzle" followed by the acoustic version of just Saiki, Kanami and an acoustic guitar.

Saiki and Obi-Wan Kanami followed that live acoustic of 'Puzzle' with the stunning acoustic performance of 'Anemone' - but you have to go to the Chinese site to see it.

Emma, I hope you get an opportunity to react to another Band Maid song, but with two versions. The song: "Puzzle", with the official live version and the official live acoustic video. There is such a difference between the two versions, that you would think they are different songs. The acoustic version features the very emotive qualities of Saiki's voice.

I suggest you listen to manners black hole live next. You should also check out Nemophila, Monstes, and the wagakki band, senbonzakura symphonic night live with ami lee from evanescence...

I love this performance and both Saiki's "belt" followed by Miku's harmony in the last verse makes the hair stand up every time. Its a good song for a Vocalist to review. There are other songs where the front vocalists shine too. This band has an amazing power trio on Lead Guitar, Bass and Drums, so the vocalists do not get near the time in reviews. Many recommendations show off the "trio" but are not the best for showing off the vocal prowess of Saiki and Miku's harmonies.

Puzzle (live, acoustic) is perhaps Saiki's most emotional song, however that video is hard to find. Daydreaming and "about Us" are great ballads. Blooming shows her ability to step up the tempo. The Dragon Cries is completely in English if that helps your analysis. Of course, BAND-MAID is known for their hard rock, so hearing her belt out Dice, Warning!, or REAL EXISTENCE (all official music videos) would also be a good choice. “Manners / BLACK HOLE” (live) would give you the best of both worlds, one bluesy song and one fast paced song, and Miku adds a lot of character to both songs with her backup vocals.

Great job catching a lot of details for your first listen! A trademark of theirs is that every time you listen to the same song you hear something different - the guitar work going on behind the scenes, the BASS LINES (holy crap) going on - and all for a song that is not heavy but sort of jazzy - this song, more than any other song of theirs for me anyway, completely and utterly defies the concept of genre. Great, great, GREAT band!! And enjoyed your singing too!

Sorry it took me so long to get to this video. I LOVE Band-Maid! Their range is truly wonderful; everything from easy listening to hard rock. A song for every mood and they all leave you with a smile. Truly the happiest Hard Rock on Earth. Thank you for posting this; it is like sitting down to enjoy good music with a new friend.

Another great reaction Emma =) Blooming MV is another song to show Saiki's vocal talents and to show Band-Maids diversity ! Besides it has the best harmonies and the best guitar solo by Kanami =)

Kanami is the lead guitarist, Miku is 2nd Vocal and rhythm guitar. Neither play in other bands, although Miku has a side project under the name Cluppo. You might want to check out a BM track where she takes lead vocal 'Sayonakidori', you will need a lie down afterwards though, 'cos it's pretty frenetic.

That's the fun thing about Band-Maid. Miku and Saiki doing dual vocals is really important for their sound. Miku did work at a maid cafe so her being active and engaging with customers was her job, and it translate to their oversea tours where she becomes the mc of the show. Band-Maid's albums are fun to listen to because they really experiment with dual vocals.

That was fun to watch! In terms of recommendations, literally any of their live videos would work, but Manners/Black Hole will give you something very different from what you've heard so far. Or if you want a beautifully shot music video, then Gion-cho.

I think the best recommendation to continue with Band-Maid would be... Go to their KZfaq page -> select Videos -> click randomly on one -> it will be a great song. Really. My personal favourite is "Play", that clip was played just before Domination on the same show. There's a big contrast in the double upload "Manners/Black Hole". "Onset" is an instrumental madness. It would be nice if you fans could recommend a more popular Band-Maid song next time, like “After Life” or “Warning!”. “Wonderland” has less than a million views as of now.

View counts doesn't really have much meaning. Fans recommend this song because this reactor is a vocalist, and they wanted to give her a vocal focused song to listen to.

Sorry to correct you but Kanami is on lead guitar and never played with Lovebites, Miku is the second singer playing rhythm guitar who by the way was taught guitar by Kanami.

hello Emma. I would like to recommend to you another one that is also one of the best in japan and has a unique style, it's called Dir En Grey, I don't know if you know it but if you don't, I recommend you listen to the song Rinkaku subbed so you can see the vocalist's clean vocals, he's called Kyo and has an incredible vocal range, he also has incredible screams and growls and even manages to make high whistles with vibrato and the rest of the band is not far behind, they are two amazing lead guitarists and their bassist and drummer are one of the best in japan, it would be interesting if you check them out, take care and greetings from 🇧🇷🤘

Saiki sings softly, sweetly, passionately, with rasp, grit...depending on the mood of the song, but studio recording doesn't do justice.
