I love Lonnie talking about moms making cookies and talking things out, because I like to imagine that Mulan, beautiful badass that she was, also has the depth to have the domestic mom vibes Lonnie talks about. although I also think Shang (assuming we're going off the Disney movie couples here) would totally have Kitchen Dad Vibes. now, I do realize that this movie kinda throws a LOT from the movies aside (EQ fell off a cliff and was crushed by rocks.. Maleficent had a sword through her heart and turned to soot) but I am very upset that we never got to see Mulan herself.

I hate how they just ignored the cultural background of everyone (and that most villains died at the end of their films, like not only maleficent but evil queen (who has a real name, as well as king beast, and noone cares about thar), ursula and gaston to name a few. Jafar turned into a dschinn after the first aladdin movie and after mal turns out to be half god half fairy in the third movie i say its a pity that nothings ever done with this...) like isnt there cool chinese candy lonnie couldve had in her childhood?

Like, I'm absolutely not saying that Mulan could never bake cookies, but from a cultural standpoint, why would she have made them so often that that's what Lonnie calls back to? But I also do understand if I'm reading too far into it and she was just coming up with the example bc they were literally making cookies at the time

Yeah, to say Cameron Boyce, the actor for Carlos, was a good dancer isn't an overexaggeration in any way. It was one of his many traits as an actor. He was truly talented in every sense of the word. May he rest in peace.

Given Disney's track record with "family is everything, you should love them no matter what" movies, I really apreciate that they did the villains as lousy parents the kids had complicated relationships with, but that the royals weren't always good paarens either. There''s many kids out there that really need a "ypu're not your parents and it's not your fault they don't love you" message. Also, making Audrey a mean girl and Chad an ass also makes it a "your upbringing isn't a clear mark of who you are" message, which I also love

According to the Descendants novels Carlos’s mom used to treat him so badly that she made him sleep on the floor of her closet (which was also his room) and told him scary stories about dogs in order to control him.

Fun fact: Dove Cameron is actually a fan of Kristin Chenoweth and considers her one of her inspirations, so being her daughter on two musicals (Descendants and Hairspray Live) is such a huge thing for her :))

🤣 She did a good job at pointing out things i never would have realized on my own about the movie, such as Maleficent singing in the range Disney princesses usually sing in and Ben sitting on the shoulders of a person who is bent over during the pep rally scene. Great reaction!

26:37 a lot of people didn't mention this but you know how ben went in the enchanted lake and the love potion went off. He mentions that he loved Mal and then he stayed hesitant for a bit as if he didn't know how to feel about her since he knew about the potion, so he wanted to know what Mal thought about him, and when Mal responded he thought it was a good opportunity to get together. Also that explains why he was in the lake for so long, not only was he finding a wish rock or something he was getting out of the potions grasp while in the lake witch why it took a while

Imo it’s actually really interesting that they basically put abusive parents instead of supportive parents in this series. Now that I think of it, I don’t know if I’ve seen that in a doom before? At least not on this scale. Even Maleficent acts pretty nice to her daughter but only to fulfil her own goals and stuff

For those here who didn’t read the first book, Mal and Ben had weird dreams about each other since before they even met and that is why in the movie they looked at each other like that when they met, not because they liked each other but because they saw each other’s faces in their dreams and that is what made them start to like each other. It has nothing to do with the video I’m just saying it cuz that look never made sense to me until I read the book.

@@eryuu4016 Yeah, but you could tell he was feeling Mal the moment he looked into her eyes. He was even being very persistent in sparking conversations with her. Sure, you could say it was just him being kind and welcoming, but you could clearly see the connection/emotion. He even mentioned while the two were on the carriage that his feelings were real. He was only under the love spell for a day or two before his date with Mal, and when he got out of the pool he still brought up the fact "Mal, I said I love you. Do you love me?" Although I don't like Audrey, I can't ignore the facts. But yes you're correct, she did break it off with him first. 🤷🏾♂️

God, this is bringing back so much nostalgia. I watched this movie when it first aired on Disney Channel and I've been a fan of the movies ever since. My mom even got party decorations for the release of D3. I have all 4 books that were written by Melissa De La Cruz. The first movie will always be my favorite.

You should read the Isle of The Lost books. They take place in between the movies and give a little more insight on the relationships between the children and their parents as well as some other characters like Uma, Harry, and Gil. The first book also introduces you to the characters and shows you how Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos met and became friends.

It always struck me the implications of abuse (Mal flinching when her mom so much as touches her) and the direct mentions in the books (Carlos is literally his mom's servant) Ngl, the state of the Isle was a lot worse in the books, I think. Heavily implied that Auradon dumped their trash on the Isle.

Man she has no idea how f-ed this island is. Like if we get into the books: Mal is named after her mom, and she isn’t allowed the full Maleficent name until she proves herself as a villain. Carlos was basically used as a servant for whatever his mom needed or wanted. Evie was taught that her value was her looks and her abilities to be a good wife to a future king.

Some facts for you: Carlos-played by Cameron Boyce-actually passed away after the third film of a complication of epileptic seizures. They plan to make a fourth film, in which they will address his passing in some way and work to honor him. On a happier note, you’ve also seen Jay-played by Booboo Stewart-has been on your channel before! If you rewatch the video for Julie and the Phantoms’ song “The Other Side of Hollywood,” you’ll notice him at the table with the boys! His character’s name is Willy, and he and Alex (the drummer) have a sweet little romance arc.

You should totally watch the other Descendants movies. The soundtracks get so much better with each film (as does the production budget, you will notice). We do lose Kristen Chenoweth but we gain China Anne McClain and Cheyenne Jackson, which totally make up for it.

I would love to see you react to more of these, but could you talk more about the vocal health and technique that you see? I would love to hear you talk more about when you see an actor display good technique, and describe what that looks like so viewers know what to model after, and more importantly, what not to model after. I'd like to hear your opinions if something is flawed with some ones vocal technique in an instance of a song, and you might consider taking video breaks to go over those mistakes with your viewers to display what is unhealthy so impressionable singers don't try to replicate it. All in all, it's still an adorable video and your reactions are so cute lol. You just light up, it reminded me of why I loved Disney movies as a kid.
