To say Huey Lewis & the News were huge in the 80's is an understatement. At a time when new wave, alternative, punk, rap, etc. music was becoming more prevalent, this song keeps with the roots of rock & roll that so many of us appreciates. For some reason that hook of how he says "Boston and Baton Rouge" grabs me. LOL So great to see you really digging and getting into it.

I worked as kitchen supervisor at a summer camp for teens when I was in graduate school. The staff had to get up at 4am to get breakfast ready for 300+ kids. The first person who arrived in the kitchen would put this song in tape player and crank up the sound. It really got the kitchen staff ready for the day. LOL people were dancing around like maniacs listening to Huey while they prepared breakfast. What great memories music brings back to us.

One of the most underrated groups of all time. Just good old fashioned rock and roll. Huey Lewis and Bob Seager, are probably the hardest working musicians in the business. It’s just a shame that illness forced him out of a fantastic career

Huey was a master of creating vocal tension. Those slide ups and hanging just a 16th tone flat on accentuating notes, really drags the listener right in. The tightness of the band almost goes unnoticed from the vocal acrobatics, and Huey is a master harmonicaist (?) After graduation 2 years early from high school, Huey's father made him tour Europe with a knap sack, a harmonica and a thumb to hitchhike from city to city. He wandered Europe for a year at age 17 making money by street busking with his harmonica.

Hi! Off course you have listened to Huey Lewis! The Power of Love, theme from Back to the Future is an iconic song. There are many other famous songs from him I'm sure you know them. But a moment I love from his career is the movie Duets, when his caracter is a karaoke contestant. Then he arrives in a bar, as he was an ordinary person, and he bets with another man that he would win that round. Then he starts to sing, and woooow, he's fabulous! This same movie he is Gwyneth Paltrow's father, and they sing together the song Cruise, from Smokey Robinson. So, so beautiful. By the way, this movie "Duets" is a "every music lover must see". Another remarkable scene from it is the performance of Try a Little Tenderness.

My wife and I were waiting outside the gates of Wolf Trap (in Northern Va) for a Huey Lewis show , sometime around 2005. We could hear the sound check and a fairly extensive rehearsal. Considering the great majority of the crowd were there to relive their memories from 20 years prior, and likely would have been happy with anything that even approximated their 80s sound, the professionalism we could hear even before the gate opened was impressive . The band sounded like they were having fun. The actual show was electric. The crowd was treated to a high-energy performance that was responsive to the audience. The youngins dragged along by their parents walked out as fans!
