Who am I?
I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 16 years and been singing since I was 17. I teach from my own studio and via Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. I have been around!
In 2008 I wrote the Vocaltutor Guide, 21 set lessons for singing teachers to get started, learning to teach, and produced 3 vocal exercise CD/Downloads.

I know many people say Beyoncé has definitely better technique than Mariah. I just hate how she isn't seen as someone in the same calibre as Whitney, Celine, & Mariah because she is definitely up there. Beyoncè is just perceived as this dancer/performer with mediocre 'overrated' vocals and people think Adele is better than her smh. No offence to Adele. I'll still prefer Mariah though purely because I stan her lol

As a huge fan of both artists, i would choose the best notes for each artist. The owner of the video chose some of not-so-good Mariah's notes, and some of Bey's notes aren't good either. Making a comparison video means you have to showcase the best notes from each singer so that the comparison can go neck-to-neck. Especially star-rated vocalists like Mariah and Beyoncé, whose vocal abilities are unmatched.

check Mariahs live performances from 1990-1996 where she sings far from the mic but still outsinging choirs etc. Mariah has a huge voice, especially in her mid belts e.g. I cant LIIIVE if living is without you, etc. She has many qualities of her voice so she doesnt always go for powerful belting, but that doesnt mean she cant sound solid, strong, powerful...even Whitney the Voice was intimidated before they became friends, check If Its Over live or You need me or Theres gotta be a way :)

Yes it was supported but it was still "hooty". That's all Beyonce does when it comes to those sorts of notes. Beyonce always starts with that "hooty" sound. Beyonce has loads of agility, but she is still one dimensional when it comes to head voice.

Federico Raggio Mariah can never do staccatos, subito pocos, transitions, and messa di voces as precise and as accurate than the likes of Beyoncé and SoHyang. Beyonce having different approaches on notes whilst maintaining support up to E5 consistently speaks volumes of her control. Mariah is only better at legato phrasing but even in that SoHyang is arguably better in legatos.

I feel a vocal battle between Celine Dion vs Mariah Carey would have been more fitting as they both started around the same time and are real musical peers, based on longevity in the business. Beyonce musical peers are Fantasia Burrino, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, and Kelly Clarkson.

Beyonce is in her vocal prime right now. Mariah was in the 94. Right now in 2019 beyonce is a more consistent vocalist, but if we compare prime beyonce vs prime mariah i think mariah win. Both are amazing vocalist with really strong technique, but I think prime mariah is unmatched. And the fact that mariah in 2018 (as some clips) can battle with a young beyounce says a lot to me.

Beyoncé’s “D3, Eb3 and E3s” were actually Eb3, E3 and F3 respectively Apart from that I would have said (with different clips) pretty much every note would be tied with the exceptions of Beyoncé’s head voice slightly beating Mariah’s and Mariah’s upper belts being slightly better (plus she has a G5). It’s insane doing a comparison like that that actually works! Firts of all, it’s quite easy to cheat on if you have a preference by choosing random clips from the Internet. Do you know how many time each singer sings a song in a tour? Docens! Sometimes great, sometime just good! Sometimes each one slays, sometime each one not that much! A real comparison is taking both singing the same song in the best time of each one! In mu opinion that’s the best way to see the particularities! And yet, ay the end, all depends of styles and things like that! (Sorry for my english, i do my best)

I really get frustaded when I see the comments, it's one thing expressing your opinion in who you like the most, but don't be mean towards either Mirah or beyoncé. They are both two of the best vocalists in history. It's totally okay to have a favourite and an opinion but keep it classy, right? In m opinion, I love them both they have the best voices ever (to me), although I do like Beyoncé more but that's just a personal prefrence :)
