ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
Have a great day!!
Rebecca
Xx

Dimash destroys Mike Patton vocally.
@maskcollector6949
@maskcollector6949 2 жыл бұрын
@@muhammad608 He really doesn't though... Dimash has a higher range, but not a lower one. He uses vocal fry to "hit" those A1 notes and it doesn't sound very good, as opposed to someone who can comfortably hit those notes like Peter Steele of Type O Negative/Mike Patton... Dimash is so classically trained that his distorted singing voice isn't good at all for contemporary music. He does one style of music very well, but honestly I see Dimash as somewhat unilateral because no matter what he's accompanied by he's still Dimash. It reminds me of Sean Connery only being able to play himself. Mike Patton can completely change faces, Dimash is wonderful but he's not as talented as a lot of other vocalists. There's way more to it than range alone. He does a beautiful pure tone - cool, I'm over it. Heard him enough to know he is flat otherwise. He's probably the best in classical but as soon as you add vocal distortion all his vocal runs are better compared to Whitney Houston or someone like that and honestly she blows him out of the water because he's a soulless robot to me his emotions are fake because he's so trained and his personality is contrived. He's a crowd manipulator, nothing more to me: the best countertenor of our time - but it's not great music, ultimately. I can't listen to it beyond the wow factor of a male going that high. Mike Patton actually makes great music to me, lol. Classical low key is terrible and monotone - it's like a circle jerk of the same songs over and over. Kyo from Dir en Grey goes even higher with his screams, and has way more emotion. Kyo blows dimash out of the water... And in terms of diversity it's a no contest: Mike Patton is by far the most diverse vocalist outside of Kyo - close 1st/2nd. To "destroy" implies mastery of the voice and Dimash is a specialist in one thing only and the lows he attempts are outside his vocal range.

@@muhammad608 I never digged dimash that much actually, the dude is a beast on the voice, but he specializes/focuses on one way of singing, and I personally don’t enjoy him, Mike Patton can sing anything, opera? Sure, Metal? Of course, rap? Hell yeah, salsa? Absolutely, he is probably the most versatile musician I’ve ever heard, oh and he doesn’t even know how to read tabs, he is self taught musician

Ive always thought that one of the main reasons Mike has such a large range in his voice is because he has always experimented with his voice and tried things that other people wouldn't because they think it's ridiculous or silly. When you break thru that box the human voice can do almost anything. When youve been making silly noises your entire life, you get quite good at it, and normal noises become simple in comparison.

Still, he is a master of the craft and has shown us so many ways to create music, not only with his voice but with the variety of musicians and styles he has combined and mashed up beautifuly. Lovage, Peeping Tom, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Mondo Cane, all nearly entirely different bands and all wonderful and creative in themselves.

that's so incredibly wrong. how can he possibly be underrated? he is one of the lucky ones that just have the attention they deserve. and that was possible because he is pretty good looking/sexy, and he's a "figure" (i don't know if it's correct (sorry am not english), in the sense that he attracts your attention/makes you curious of him for his "figure"), and last not last because he was/is part of a pretty mainstream rock band like FNM, that made him enough popular and gave him financial indipendency so he could actually choose to do the musician/artist as a "job". He is not overrated at all, he really values as a musician and really is a great vocalist&artist: but from this to say that he is underrated, - hell no. 8:00 I was at Patton's Tomahawk concert at the Quart Festival in Norway many moons ago. (Open air) It was maybe 10-20 mins before the concert was supposed to start and a few people had gathered. Among the stage personell, Patton walks out and finishes setting up his equipment. A few girls were sitting on the edge of the stage, oblivious to what was happening 2 meters behind them. Patton notices them, notices the HUGE speakers directly beside them, gestures to them and to up, grins -- And then screams into the mic, blew our ears out, and not exaggerated, catapulting the girls into the air in shock. I wish I had a camera phone back then.

His high end falseto vibrato is just amazing. Any other singer and one could call it "whiny" but Mike is just freaking perfect at it. He also uses this rythmatic funk syllable style to contrast that upper range perfectly! The last album was a great comeback an of course Angel Dust is amazing. I just read an interview with Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle, and was surprised to learn how many of their songs Mike Patton had written every part for. It wasn't the songs you'd expect either. And at this point, he's also done 3-4 film scores, all radically different from each other. He never really plays instruments on stage, but he clearly has the ability to.

Oh my word, the lady Rebecca has done it again. My number one favourite singer getting the RVA treatment. The bit at 8 minutes literally had me in tears, especially as I knew what was coming! I thought I'd heard every noise you could make, then you drop a 'Oorrrgh'! On the subject of Mike Patton, I started listening to Faith No More in the late 80s, pretty much after the late Chuck Moseley left to be replaced by Patton, I was also listening to Mr Bungle, not even realising it was the same singer. The album The Real Thing had everything in regards to music and vocals, he was still pretty much a kid, experimenting with his voice, but he showed he had something special. The next Album, Angel Dust came out, more mature sounding, incredible. Saw them live in about 1992 in Birmingham (as a 17 year old on a crazy coach from Liverpool with a gang of school mates) touring Angel Dust, simply amazing, first time I'd heard the do 'Easy', as well as the little inserts like 'Pump Up The Jam' and 'The Right Stuff'. The stuff he's done since, in a crazy range of vocal ranges, and even languages, is unrivalled. Sorry about the long comment. :-) Thank you, again, Rebecca, you beautiful, beautiful creature! :-) x

@WastedPo
@WastedPo 5 жыл бұрын
@@Danimal77 Do you understand that words have actual meaning to them? If I'd simply said, "the funniest part was at the end," it would not have conveyed *why* it was funny. By adding "low key" I was specifically pointing out how subtly funny it was in a "blink and you'll miss it way," the fact that Patton's seemingly cacophonous noises were in fact carefully composed and pre-written, as evidenced by the methodical page turn. Now, having said that, I'd like to apologize for writing such a long and complex explanation. Your complaint made it very clear that you prefer simple sentences with monosyllabic words, and that likely any nuance and detail beyond that confuses and frightens you. If I did indeed frighten you, then I'm truly sorry. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable with prose closer to your comprehension level. If you're open to suggestions, I can highly recommend the book by Richard Scarry, "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go." It's got lots of pictures, and it's one I have very fond memories of reading with my nephew when he was in pre-school. Give it a whirl!

I've seen Patton with Zappa's drummer. A good start (ok, seeing Patton with Zappa will be very complicated).

He’s got tons of voices “in his realms.” One of my favorite singers of all time.

Rebecca's on-the-spot impressions of some of Mike Patton's more bizarre noises are really impressive. Especially the way she imitated that dolphin-like noise at the end.
