I think the New Jersey accent does have a lot of open vowel sounds, but when Gerard is just talking he doesn't push those open vowels as hard as when he is singing. It just seems that he naturally pushes them more vocals. God, I love MCR so much. Listening to their live concerts makes me want to rock out.

Omg, I love that you did Mcr. Thank you! A lot of emo bands have that twang and high shouty kind of voice, but Gerard is weird. Some think that he had an unhealthy way of singing, but as you clearly said, he's teachnique is actually quite good. He sings in such a particular way, you will always know it's him because he has just a weird but somehow charming style. In lots of his songs he tries to convey dark emotion, such as anger and pain and lots of punk bands do this, however I think that Mcr came to be really big because they were just so raw and real and that is one of the aspects that made them great. Now that you did something great for us the emos, would you mind listening to One Ok Rock, please? Maybe their official live videos from their ambitions tour, such as 'We are' or 'Cry out', both are great. Their Vocalist is just amazing and I would like to hear your opinion.
