“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self-confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

what makes this even more special is that this is a program that pairs celebrities with talented fans. She's a fan who's actually from Japan and they flew her out to be on the show. She spoke very little Korean so just had to memorize all these lyrics, but still she was able to connect with them so well. On the show the celebrities get sent clips from a few fans singing and get to pick who they want to pair with. Everyone was kind of surprised that RM (at that time still known as Rap Monster) picked a singer with such a sweet and gentle voice and then were awed at how well it turned out. It was fun to see the two communicate on the show as she spoke a it of Korean, he spoke a bit of Japanese, and then they both were fairly fluent in English

Fun fact: this girl is a fan from Japan who won the opportunity to sing on this show with RM. she isn’t even a professional singer as far as I know, her voice and stage presence are beautiful.

Rm has a very distinctive rap talent. We already know he is a master in word play but his voice always seems to match any genre. He has low deep voice, so it can be gentle and powerful as well as loud and energetic. Hip-hop, ballads, pop , r&b and more he just fits in perfectly. The song was so slow and soft and her angelic voice, clashing with his powerful rapping when it picked up, made the performance WAYYYY more intense and emotion. Also let's not forget the fact the soft looks he gives her in the song. And when he rapped and she sang, and we're turned towards eachother it looked like they were literally speaking to each other. This video makes me emotional Everytime I watch it

Muthatrucka!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Rebecca, did you know that RM is the main composer for BTS and does a lot of the guides for them. He wrote, composed, co produced AND did the vocal guide for Jimin's Serendipity. He is such a talented and wonderful human being. Have you seen him speak at the UN yet? There is a compilation of RM's wise words that I think you would find interesting too. This 148 IQ (genius, yes) wonderkid is also a genuine philosophical and poetic goldmine.

In the original video there was a prequel where Namjoon talked about the choices he made and it showed his interactions with Yukio (sp?). Also, since this was a duet festival there were several contestants and the video included other performances. Although, RM/Yukio did not win, the judges heaped praise on him. They had never seen a rapper who did not promote himself, but made the vocal the basis of the performance. i.e. like a good leader, RM took a back seat role. btw, with the style of music you seem to prefer, I think you would really enjoy Way Back Home by Shaun (beautiful voice).

Actually, the person who wrote this song is Tablo, from the Korean Hip hop group Epik High. If you love poetry and good songwriting, I'd highly recommend checking out his music. He is nicknamed "the poet" and for good reason.

4:48 it is so satisfying to see you react like this, coz that was LITERALLY my face when I first saw that video, like I was SHOCKED. I had only just started getting in to bts and rm was already my favourite, but seeing this video, I could not believe how emotive he was. Like I didn’t even have the lyrics on and immediately felt like crying because of how expressive he is. I replayed it so so many times coz I couldn’t believe that a rapper could make me THAT emotional without me even knowing what he’s saying.

this is actually a cover of Epik High's "Umbrella" ! Epik High is a hip hop alternative group composed of 3 members and one of them, Tablo, composed the song and wrote the lyrics with Mithra, another rapper. They're amazing artists and truly deserve more recognition, although they're not new at all ! (debuts around 2001) They have beautiful songs and lyrics which deal with serious issues. Check them out if you have time !

RM is such a great artist! He is not just rapping...he's spitting the pain, the sadness and the conflict of a break up from his prospective. You can feel every single thing in his aggressive rap...& this being aggressive is a key point for this song. One of my favourite performance by RM..HANDS DOWN! P.S.- Another great performance is from a collabo with Sistar's Soyou (a great breathy singer in my opinion). It's really a short perfomance but in terms of emotions ties with this one. Soyou x Rap Monster - Stupid in Love. You should check it out 😊😊

OMG you've found this cover by RM and the Japanese girl (sorry I forgot her name, all I remember is that RM chose her himself amongst the other candidates that would like to have a duet with him). Love the dynamic of this song with them - the intensity of their voices, the lyrics ... so good! She’s actuallybfrom Japan and Korean isn’t her native language so that’s amazing. He chose her because of her soft tone, knowing it would contrast nicely with his.

Hello Rebecca! This song is originally sang by Epik High feat. Younha - Yuiko is a college student in Japan. She has a Korean friend that sparks her interest in Kpop and she became a K-pop fan after her friend introduced it to her. Kim Namjoon who is also the leader from the group BTS (RM or Rap Monster) and Younha did a Duet in the Song Festival episode 13 in which is a program where non-celebrities get to sing along with famous artist. The original song is by Epik High ft. Younha~ Epik High is a group of two rappers (Tablo and Mithra Jin) and a DJ (DJ Tukutz). Tablo made this song, along with most of their songs actually, and he and Mithra Jin wrote each their rap part. I haven't followed them that much after their 6th album, but all of them have lyrics with the same quality and depth as this one - Tablo is very much loved for his lyric writing. I can definitely recommend giving their other songs a listen^^/

I agree with you about the original MV (now taken down). I really enjoyed watching and listening to RM's process.. How and why he chose her as his partner. This was originally sung by Epik High, I believe. Not intended as a solo.
