Omg that is hilarious! I would have died hearing that live 🤣 It reminds me of Billy Idols "Mony Mony", during his live shows when he can cuss he changes the lyrics by adding a chorus of cusses between the lines of the song 🤣 "Here she come now singing Mony Mony *HEY MOTHERF*CKER GET LAID GET F*CKED!* Well, shoot ’em down, turn around, come on Mony *HEY MOTHERF*CKER GET LAID GET F*CKED!* Hey she give me love and I feel alright now *HEY MOTHERF*CKER GET LAID GET F*CKED!"* It is always the best song during his show because everyone losses their minds knowing that part is coming, especially for those of us who have been to a few of his shows. It is hard to sing it now without all the MFers in there 🤣

Tim Curry has a few albums to his name, that came out in the 70's and 80's. A bud of mine had one(can't remember which), that he lent me to check out...it wasn't bad...Tims vocals are distinct and unique, so you will always know when you are listening to a Tim Curry song(don't know if he wrote his own material or not). It's too bad he never put out more albums, or got the recognition he deserved for his talents (in the music industry)

Great video! This is one of my favorite Rocky Horror songs and it brings back such great memories. I played Dr. Scott and, when needed, the Criminologist in a RHPS shadowcast for a few years back in the mid to late '90s and I'm Going Home was always my favorite part of the night because, after having a pretty large role for the second half of the show, I finally just got to sit back and watch from one of the best seats in the house, Also, thanks for the insight into musical theater. I have to admit that I'm someone who made a lot of those common assumptions about musical theater performers, but now I realize that a lot of it came from seeing quite a bit of community theater in college, not from seeing it on a professional level.
@porgyt71772 жыл бұрын
Back in early mid-1990s I was a 14 year old aspiring actor in the Atlanta theater scene. I would often usher at a professional theater in town called The Theatrical Outfit. This particular season they decided to do the Rocky Horror Show, the actual stage play. I had gotten familiar with many of the staff including the director of the show and he told me a few days before opening that they were having trouble keeping the chorus, the transylvanians, in line (they didn't like the fact that their parts were basically chorus parts) . So I suggested (at 14 in a professional theater) that the ushers Also play the Chorus. He loved the idea but didn't see it possibly coming together due to having to train the ushers, which typically change daily, what their parts would actually be. I was at the time going to a performing arts school in Atlanta and the next day suggested it also to a few of my friends and my drama director. And they loved the idea. So two days before the opening of the show I got together about 10 of my buddies and fellow classmates, took them down to the theater to sign up as ushers for the entire run of The Rocky Horror Show. The director was over the moon and blocked us all in that afternoon . Though we didn't get paid, many of my classmates got the opportunity to perform on a professional stage for the entire 4 week run of the show (it had been extended). And a funny bonus, RuPaul, who was from Atlanta was cast and played Riff Raff (this was pre-national fame by about 4 years)... he was a Freak, in a good way. The paper wrote that the show was fantabulous, the cast was awesome and she was mega surprised that the kid who showed her to her seat ended up on stage, singin' and dancin'.

Tim Curry put out an album way back. I don't know anything about music, but I like it. Birds of a feather is a good example of how, much like Shatner really,, he doesn't really sing traditionally. I guess he's more of a performance singer like you say here. But, I mean, he has a lot of great stuff if you like the way he sings. He was in the 80s Annie film, as well. I think he did one or two songs in that. He's an amazing actor and performer.

As a cool bonus to the experience I spoke to my parents about it and they were exchanging stories with me and telling me how amazing it was with the original cast back when they saw it. Apparently they used to allow the audience members to participate with water pistols in the "Over At The Frankenstein Place" scene, health and safety would've had a conniption fit!

The whole movie is worth a watch. After it finished its release run, it became a cult classic playing in thousands of theatres across the world in midnight showings for years. A lot and I mean a lot of people dressed as their favorite character which means some of them had to show up in raincoats or trench coats till after they had bought tickets and entered the screen room where it was playing. The clip posted by Angelo De Lutis has the entro and outro which adds context to the song.

Beth, back in the late 80's when I was a senior in H.S., I played the character "Eddie" that was so brilliantly performed by Meatloaf. I'll always have very fond memories of playing that part because my best friend at the time was also in the cast. Every Saturday night at midnight I'd show up in my outfit with my friend and proceed to act out the character on the stage in front of the movie as it was playing right behind us. Those poor guys that had to clean that theatre after the show though I have the upmost respect for. Hopefully they got hazard pay after we completely trashed the place. Ahhh good times. 🤣😂😂🤣
