First of all...he had to replace Rob Halford....! That is insane already. BUT...he not only did it, he CRUSHED it! I LOVE his voice and thought he did many of the classic Priest songs with more power and more consistency. He isn't Halford. No one but Rob is...but he has a special and amazing voice and never gets the credit and recognition he deserves!

He really has came into his own as a singer. The way he can easily go from sounding like Phil Anselmo of Pantera, to Rob Halford of Priest, to his more natural Ronnie James Dio type of voice is amazing.

Both his two albums with Iced Earth are great. Personally, I think The Clouding caught on to me the most, but I can't really tell which song is best to listen to for Tim's entire registry to shine. He's seriously one of the most underrated singers I've ever heard of, just because so many people wanted the original singers to return to their respective bands, and didn't give Tim enough credit for his time with them.

Cathedral Spires is easily the best non Halford Judas Priest song that is underrated. For the last 27 years I've often imagined if only they went more towards that directions at least for an album or two. Instead we got generic songs and lyrics without even using his range at all sadly. I remember even as a teenager I was confused as to why most of their "new" songs were generic, no high notes.

i'm sorry but you can't even begin to believe that. Halford is in the top 5 or 10 best metal frontmen of all time. Tim probably isn't even in the top 100. Tim's good, but he's nowhere near as charismatic, his voice doesn't have the feeling that Halford does. Tim's pitchy as hell, including in this clip, as Beth notes early on. She gave him a pass saying it was to build tension, but he's consistently flat here. find a video of Halford doing Diamonds and Rust. there's no comparison, Halford is king.

Ripper deserves a lot of credit for what he's done as a journeyman in the business. Stepping in and taking over for notable original lead singers of bands, essentially keeping those bands going during the hiatus of the original singer. Much respect to the man, great to see a spotlight shone on him here.

Tim is great. The only singer to successfully take on the place of a legend. And he has done it with so much character, personality and respect. He sings the songs originally recorded by Halford in a way that fulfills the highest expectations, but never sounding like he's imitating him. And the two studio albums he recorded with Judas Priest are also great, with a lot of hidden gems. And his technique… oh boy! If could achieve half of what he does…

Ripper is a great singer who had the "unfortunate" task of replacing 2 popular singers in 2 different bands (Halford in Priest and Matt Barlow in Iced Earth). Many fans from both bands did not accept him and you could see that in the audience turnout at shows. I remember going to a small festival years back where Priest w/Ripper were headlining and when Priest took the stage a good portion of the crowd walked out. Fuckin' sad. I saw him with both Priest and Iced Earth and he was just amazing in both bands live. Good for Beth for reacting to him. I would LOVE to see you analyze one of my absolute favourite artists in this whole world - Tyler Carter. Definitely his single "Landslide" or "Tapping Out (Stripped)" by his band Issues give a super intimate time with his voice. Preferably the latter as it is so raw. I really hope you make a video!! 💖

Have you reacted to the original version of this song? I can't remember, maybe that is something to do for another time?

I’ve been dreaming of you to react to him for years! Glad you did it! Tim is such an underrated singer. It’s incredible how he manages to keep his voice throughout the years! There’s a rehearsal video of him singing “the sentinel” that’s amazing! Please do check it out!

I love Tim's singing. In my opinion, he was the best singer for Judas Priest. I think Rob was better with his solo work.
