OMG!! The breathiness, the vocal fry onsets, the cries, and those 3 note runs I was hearing it all! I can't believe how good she sounds after not a very long time at all. That was honestly just beautiful and so authentic to her voice. Tara you are a magician. What a testimony to your invaluable knowledge and skills. I hope Candace is so proud of herself. She should be!!!

The thing I love most about this is that you guys clearly found Candace's authentic voice... When singing, she sounds like herself rather than sounding like she's imitating the original artist or trying to emulate any other singer. I also love how much her confidence had grown. We kind of think actors and actresses are naturally confident when it comes to exposing their vulnerabilities because they have trained themselves to be strong in the face of judgement and criticism, but there's something so raw and delicate about this whole process that proves we are all simply human beings, trying to be better at whatever, each and every day of our lives. Candace has a beautiful voice and Tara is a beautiful soul who has helped so many people, myself included, to grow vocally and spiritually. Much love to you both!!! 🥹 I didn't realize how moved I'd be by this whole process. What a beautiful illustration of a true CALLING. I mean, I was immediately impressed by you both - gifted teacher AND student - but this final video left me teary. You made this fun for Candace and she grew SO much (the recording was stunning) but you also cultivated such a safe and loving space for this journey. It's like a ministry in and of itself, just the way you both showed up... ♡ Brava!

My violin teacher and I have had so many conversations about how learning an instrument (including voice) is so valuable in other areas of life. Like I had a teacher for a semester that really helped me with my posture and breathing, and I still practice some of my breathing exercises when I get anxious because I found that they help me release stress and tension in my body. My current teacher has me stretching and doing wall sits as part of my warm up routine, because stretching helps my muscles to loosen up and wall sits are helpful for me to feel the tension I need to have in my core and loosen up everywhere else. Not to mention that it takes discipline, dedication, and sacrifice to really learn an instrument.

I watched your transformation from day 1. Tara Simon is a fantastic vocal coach and her love for singing is so apparent because she shares it with so many. And Candace, I cannot say enough about your perserverance!! Your dedication and unwillingness to give up is inspiring, to say the least. I'd never heard the song you chose but you made me love it. The lyrics fit in many lives of those of us who sometimes feel so alone. But I think it wasn't just what I've mentioned already that captivated me. Your words of self-awareness are so profound and so very honest and true!!! We have known you as a celebrity since your younger years and we've watched you grow up into the beautiful heart and soul that you truly are. You seem so down-to-earth and we love that about you too.
