Diana has a tremendous back story that highlights the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. She was physically abused, broken collarbone, and abandoned by her birth mother when she was about 4 years old. Did not know how to talk and taken in by her adoptive mother from the orphanage who then taught her music and singing in order to bring her out of her shell so she could learn to speak. The dark hair lady that you’ll see sometimes in her video is her adoptive mother. Diana has since a very early age had a professional vocal coach who recognized her contralto voice type and has worked to refine and develop it to its full potential. Diana is also blessed with naturally occurring polyphonic overtones which sometimes makes it sound as if two or three voices are harmonizing. Hi again Asia and BJ (I had to get some sleep). I agree with you that a teenage girl doesn't have the depth and soul needed to sing a song like It's a Man's World. I would love to hear Diana sing this song again in 15-20 years after she has a grown woman's experience. I think that Etta James first performed this song and James Brown performed a spectacular version. The one thing I absolutely give Diana a solid 'A' for in this performance is confidence. It takes a LOT of confidence to cover Etta James and James Brown! (more below) On another subject. Recently Diana has been training her upper register. She's always had a good upper register, but I think that during the past several years she got comfortable down low. Personally, I love the wonderful dark rich tone she has when she goes low, but a lot of folks like the high notes, even if I'm not one of them. One thing I know for sure is that Diana is a very hard worker. Her voice coach she had for all of her life died recently, which devastated her. Her training has changed a lot because of that. Anyway, for whatever reason, Diana is working hard on her upper register again. I expect to hear more of her brighter higher register in the future, even if that's not my personal preference (lots of girls can sing bright and high, but NOBODY does dark and low like Diana).

Greetings from Scotland! This is 14yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian project "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage when she was 3yo. Remember, at 5yo Diana could barely speak! That's why she had vocal training very young. Her vocal therapist immediately realized this girl could SING! She's professionally trained/vocal coaches. Should look into her history, it's a hell of a story. Most talented, unique, mesmerizing and versatile performer I ever witnessed. Her multitude of genres, languages and vocal styling she has sang in already is astounding and would be for any artist of any age. She was abused as an infant all her brothers & sisters died. When she was taken to an orphanage she couldn’t speak very well. They used vocal coaches to teach her to speak properly. So yes she is trained. Yodeling was her favorite style as a child. Reshenka is a song where she plays with her voice.
