I watch every voice teacher/coach reaction to this song so I can listen to it again and see how much someone else appreciates it.

I've spent the last few months going from review after review by coaches, by singers, by instrumentalists, and so many others. You, however, put words to the power I've been feeling all along by Disturbed's cover. You gave it a name for me, and for that I greatly thank you. OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular classic songs of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing the many channels and each of their reactions and have 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. Thanks, Diane

I'd love to hear your take on this performance and the song itself is an emotional rabbit hole. Some songs are written for different voices…it just took 50 years to find it. The opening line speaks of darkness…these lyrics are about the desperation of disconnection, not folksy and introspective. It has found it’s true expression. It breaks your soul. People can’t understand why they cry, but it’s inevitable that they do. It is perfect.

You mentioned the vocals being enhanced. The opposite happened. The vocal was raw and unproduced. I have seen so many producer-wannabe’s , doing reactions, saying his producer(s) should’ve cleaned up his verse 1 vox in post (post-production). He had a bunch of spit-clicks and breath that could’ve easily been removed. He wanted that honesty and intimacy. He won.

Hello Bianca, probably one of the best covers ever made. Loved the reaction. May I suggest couple of vocal artists and songs to react? Lara Fabian ( Adagio, Je suis Malade, Je taime, Perdere L'amore, Caruso - all live performances ) if you haven't heard of her, be ready for a treat. For the foeign language songs, there are videos with english subtitles. The lyrics all tell stories and Lara Fabian being a fantastic story teller on stage, probably better to watch them with subtitles. Angela Jordan ( in order I Put a Spell on you - Bohemian Rapsody (agt champions) - Gloomy Sunday) and the official video Monsters by James Blunt ( one of those songs which is more than a song )

I have just watched this, your second analysis and think you are spit on, but I think you missed a bit at the end… when the boat is crossing the gap between the land where they have found their voices again, heading across to those that are still lost in the sound of silence. Right at the end, the sun starts to rise, offering a new dawn as it were, to those with no voice . Keep up the good work 👍

Watch it again and focus on his silhouette while it’s still dark. He looks like Buddha with the earrings and all. I hope that was intentional, but most likely not. Buddha!
