Isn't "Slumdog Millionaire" an Indian film? If so, I would bet Cillian HAS seen that and just doesn't remember. Update: Thank you to all who corrected me. It's based on a novel by an Indian author, but it's a British film with a British director.
@cherylh4688

@@user-co1sv2bq5d To be honest, I didn't hear Cillian say anything like that, User-co. . So I don't really know what you are talking about and couldn't even guess what he meant. But could it be that you are referring to a different video, or perhaps that English isn't your native language, and so, with his Irish accent, you have simply misunderstood him? In this video, the only thing I heard him say, before he was interrupted by Djimon, was, "No, I don't think I have. I don't think I have. Which I know is a terrible thing to say ..." (Or something close to that, anyway.) And by "I don't think I have," I interpret him to mean that he can't remember ever seeing an Indian film, so he might have, but doesn't think so because he can't remember one. And as for "I know that's a terrible thing to say," I think he really meant it was an unfortunate thing to have to ADMIT to because it implies he might have a low opinion of Indian films and had purposely ignored them OR that he was maybe a lazy actor who hadn't kept up with all the films he should have. But in any case, he's simply acknowledging that his saying he's never seen one, or can't remember one, is probably going to imply something unflattering about either himself or about Indian films or film makers. I hope that helps, User-co, altho' I'm not sure my explanation is any clearer than his words were, lol.

@@user-co1sv2bq5d You are most welcome, User-co, and I am very, very happy that I could help with your translation. And it is a special pleasure to be communicating with someone from a different country and culture, and especially one as nice as you seem to be.😍 And just to reassure you, although your translator may have made those few mistakes, it must still be a very good one because your English is quite good most of the time! From my heart to yours, I wish you a very, very happy, peaceful and prosperous 2024!!🤗🤗🤗💕 P.S. Are you saying you would like to ask a question about Peaky Blinders? I watched every movie available in the county library system. I have a large collection of DVDs, mostly Shah Rukh. I go to local theaters that show Bollywood films and I have been asked by Indian audience members if I like the films. They are amazing! I love the passion, the beauty, the music, the stories. And yes, I saw Bandit Queen. My favorites are the K movies…Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kenya. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a favorite. Since the pandemic, I haven’t seen any but I will. Love them.

can't help.Its mainstream cinema now. It also depends on people's taste. Most western do expect to see over-the-top no-brainer bollywood films. But then rarely you will find someone looking for art. Like I have this hungarian friend who could be best expert on Mr Satyajit Ray. These people are few though.

Both BRILLIANT ACTORS!!! I have adored Cillian Murphy for as long as I can remember! Djimon Honsou is also incredible! I haven't seen as many of his movies but, Blood Diamond was SUCH a great movie!!! Both class acts! I am just a bit confused when Cillian says "I know that's terrible.." or something like that... Why? I mean good on Djimon for showing so much love and respect for the interviewer's culture but, I don't think it's TERRIBLE Cillian hasn't seen any Indian films... He just simply hasn't been exposed to a lot of Indian films... It's not like evil... Not trying to pick him apart! Just a simple honestly no I have not, but I will definitely check those out.. I dunno.. I clearly WAAY over analyze everything... Forgive me... Nothing but, love to him just thought it an odd way to put it..

I love movies and I try to know at least one from every country. I would feel a bit embarrassed if someone asked, and I said no because it suggests their movies are boring, not worth attention, etc. even if I simply haven't seen anything yet. I imagine it can be the same for him, since he is an actor associated with cinema and respects this art. Maybe he felt ignorant at that moment.

I thought the same thing. Nothing wrong or bad about it. It would be terrible to lie and pretend you love something you don't. I've always thought Bollywood films would be shit. Full of silly singing and dancing. I know what I like and that isn't it. I'll watch Scandinavian films any day, I think maybe it's the setting of them that I like. They have a rawness and gritty feeling to them. Let The Right One In is by far my favourite vampire film and one of my favourite films full stop.
