Voctave performed in Tallahassee back in February for one night only. A friend and I went and they are so good...I feel so lucky I got to hear them in person.

I'm a 33 year old straight male... and this medley makes me tear up. Just timeless and nostalgic to the extreme, having grown up during the Disney Renaissance.

The tenor second from the left in the dark jacket and blue t-shirt is the fabulous Jamey Ray. He is the founder of Voctave (Think Voices + Octave) and arranges all of their music. The music is sent to the Voctave members and they learn it on their own. Then they get together for a couple of days, go over the numbers a couple of times and hit "Record". Pretty amazing! The first song is from Snow White with Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Mulan and Pocahontas following. I love how they sing soprano to alto then reverse at the end to climb alto to soprano. Just beautiful.

Never been here before and with a handle like “Skeptical Hillbilly” I never expected your sincere and respectful reaction. I came for Voctave, and came away a subscriber. I love acapella music almost as much as I like Allison Krause. I’m also a big fan of Angelina Jordan and a recent fan of her Norwegian counterpart Aurora. If you haven’t experienced these young talents, give a listen.

As a lifelong Acapella enthusiast, I contend Voctave is currently THE Greatest Acapella Group on the Planet. They got the name Voctave from when they sang Disney Love Medley featuring Kirsten Maldonado with her then fiance Jeremy Michael Lewis. Jeremy suggested V (Roman numeral 5) for their 5 OCTAVE range = Voctave!!!

Hey, Skep. Thanks for your reaction to one of my all-time favorite singing groups. It’s funny, they are made up of members of other groups I’ve followed as well, from barbershop to Disney. Many have held roles in Disney groups like Voices of Liberty to Dapper Dans. I’m excited that in December ‘21, Voctave will be on tour and will perform in Vincennes Indiana and this Ohio boy is going to make the drive. I have a hard time listening to them without a tissue in my hand- someone should have warned you. You and I are similar- I also happen to think the Mulan song, Reflection, tops the Disney songs for beauty and sentimentality. The singers in order are Kate Lott, who defies law and logic with her high notes, Voices of Liberty veteran and favorite Tiffany Coburn, Sarah Whittemore with her perfect impression of Ariel, barbershop champion Ashley Espinosa who made us cry, and the beautiful Chrystal Johnson who rounds out the medley with her gorgeous low notes. The group has a rendition of My Grown Up Christmas List, led by Chrystal, that sends me to tears every time. Thanks for checking them out, spread the word.

The Disney Princess Medley by Claire Crosby has all the princesses up to Moana. Not only can she sing very well, she was sponsored by Disney, but at 5 years old she has the cuteness factor. The new version of Mulan has a new song "Loyal Brave and True", though I prefer the cover by Sadie Emolyn over the original version by Cristina Aguilera. I would also recommend Peter Hollens and Tim Foust singing "Misty Mountains" from The Hobbit. If you could get bass boosted headphones for this I highly recommend it.

If you are unfamiliar with music outside of country music as you say, I think that instead of reacting to unusual things like Babymetal, you should first get familiar with all the major artists that you haven't heard yet. Your inexperience makes you extra interesting as a KZfaq personality. People would flock to your channel to see your first reactions to artists like the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, etc. It worked for TwinsthenewTrend, they got mentioned on Saturday Night Live. Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Artists" will give you some ideas.
