Voddie Baucham tells it how it is!!! proves the Bible true!
I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents, written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, and they claim to be divine rather than human in origin.
can you accept the truth?

Is the bible reliable? The dead walked the streets, a man walked on water, rose from the dead etc etc? I mean, these are fantastic claims, but none of them are corroborated outside of the bible. There are living eye witnesses to claims of magic about Satya Sai Baba, or alien abductions and we don't believe that (I hope). But we are expected to believe magical claims in a book, why not the quran or the bhagavad gita?
@miyaskies
@miyaskies 7 жыл бұрын
ok fanriffic The Bible IS the corroboration isn't it? It's right in the sermon -- a collection of books written by eye witnesses over thousands of years by some 40 writers who's testimonies corroborate each other. Not to mention the accurate fulfillment of prophecy which (if I'm not mistaken) was deliberately put forth by God as further proof of the Bible's authenticity.

@@christopherianlister5212 They aren't named _in the books themselves_ , but we have reliable sources stating who the writers were. The supernatural events are _mostly_ claimed, however for things like the Resurrection, we know that the apostles really believed in it because they were harshly persecuted and brutally executed for that belief. They saw the risen Jesus with their own eyes, touched Him, spoke with Him, etc. This was not a hallucination because you can't touch a hallucination and 11+ people do not see a hallucination at the same time, in the same place, of the exact same thing. That would almost be a greater miracle than the Resurrection itself. They really believed in this and DIED for this. And how does the Bible get the age of the universe wrong? The Bible doesn't even state the age of the universe, and all man-given ages are theories.

In this case means ...we must be ready to stand in front of the Awesome God and give account of our life! As we never know when out time will be done here on Earth and we will be gone to Heaven. But we must be ready at all times...in other words live a Christ like life as Jesus must be our example of life lived for serving others and doing good! this is the first argument for the validity of the bible and God that i actually accept. all of the counterarguments that atheists usually make, he addresses, (something religious people always fail to do). if only all religious people were like this man... :( i still have some questions though, such as by his argument, would not all ancient religious texts be valid and true then? but this is definitely a good argument for the validity of the bible, (and God), by far the strongest one i’ve seen.
@mariamargiyeva531
@mariamargiyeva531 3 жыл бұрын
I’ll try my best to answer, so I’ll be using something I’ve heard as a response to a question like this. Finding a book that is historically accurate is common. Finding a book that has tales of supernatural events is common. Finding a book the speaks about a divine being is common. But one thing that separates all things from the Bible is Jesus Christ Himself. What all religions have in common (at least in my knowledge) is the way to salvation. It is usually works based or in other words, humans doing what THEY can to get to heaven/salvation. Jesus on the other hand, came to US so that we may have eternal salvation through Him. He is the only one that came to us, became a servant for us, and died for us. I guess your question also depends on your view of truth. If you believe there is an objective truth (which is what I heavily emphasize is true), then only one religious text can be true, not all. If you believe that truth is subjective, that it matters of perspective and opinion, then it becomes difficult to answer. If truth were subjective, it wouldn’t be truth, it would just be opinion

@@mariamargiyeva531 i don’t see why this difference (jesus christ) makes the bible valid tho? i don’t really like this argument as i see it preached time and time again at my church. it’s not really valid because it assumes that there is a “heaven,” and it also assumes that the way people live their lives affect the place they ultimately go to. it’s honestly a straw man and begging the question fallacy. these are all unsubstantiated claims i have no reason to believe. i don’t see how jesus’ existence (if he even existed) proves that an actual deity and afterlife exist.
@mariamargiyeva531
@mariamargiyeva531 3 жыл бұрын
@@dilfhunter5645 I have to look into this more deeply myself but historians do claim that Jesus existed, it’s a fact. The problem is the resurrection. That’s why this video is so important, because Voddie stated multiple claims as to why Jesus is true and reliable. That’s why I started talking about truth, Jesus can not be true while Buddha is also the way to salvation ykwim? All I can say is, after accepting that Jesus is Lord He hasn’t let me down in the slightest. Always there when I need Him, and always there to guide me. Long story short, if you can provide sufficient proof that Jesus did in fact resurrect, then other religious texts would not be valid or true because Jesus showed that only through Him can someone reach heaven. Sure, some religious texts do have truth or teach things like kindness or generosity, but once again, if Jesus died on the cross and resurrected, He is the only truly reliable source.
@mariamargiyeva531
@mariamargiyeva531 3 жыл бұрын
@@dilfhunter5645 I’m actually also reading Matthew 27 currently, and it talks a lot of Jesus’ resurrection. If you wanna learn more about what they did to Him and how He died, I recommend reading it. It’s also a really good history book since it has been claimed by historians to be very accurate history wise.
@dilfhunter5645
@dilfhunter5645 3 жыл бұрын
@@mariamargiyeva531 i respect that. but another reason i don’t really believe in God is bc the way religious people live their life is all the same. the impact their god or religion had on them is basically the same between all religious people. what motivates muslims to do charity work and go to mosques? what motivates buddhists to separate their selves from the world and live a humbled life? and if one religion is true and all others false, then how do you explain the impact other people’s religion and god had on them? in the bible, it says that true religion is someone who takes care of widows and orphans and abstains from immorality. this applies to most devout people. not just devout christians, but devout muslims, hindus, buddhists, jews, etc. and again, ur using the same reasoning as baucham which i said i had problems with, since that applies to all major religions.

STL CLEAN; l did not say black people cannot be sound. please, do not read between lines, it makes us both look like jerks. if l can truthfully say that every black preacher who has ever tried to teach me taught word of life lies then that is simply how it is. I can also say that about all female preachers, would you use that to state that l believe all women to be liars who cannot be saved? I should hope not. however l cannot agree with what you said concerning race. while there is indeed one specie and one church and even one America there are still many many races. I am proud of my race, it has a very rich history. you should be proud of yours, l guarantee yours has just as grand a history though possibly very different than mine. The gentleman preaching above also has a rich history worth of pride as does all who can trace their ancectory back to the tower of bable where God invented race in the first place. As Aslan said into Caspian "You are a son of Adam and that is enough to raise the head of the lowliest beggar or humble the mightiest king."

@vilcantroper your response is exactly the kind of response to expect from what Paul writes about the bible being foolishness to the eyes of the dying. Instead of seeking your own heart and listening to whats written in your heart its. "Oh I need to be able to calculate, put God inside a test tube and measure him, research him until I'm satisfied, then maybe I'll believe. What is it you need to research exactly? State your terms, what would satisfy you enough to believe? Chances are you won't be able to define, because this is a heart issue, not a head issue. like you say it is. Also your statement about we sound ignorant is a circular argument, do YOU know how ignorant YOU sound when stating OUR ignorance? to state that we are ignorant about you, is to say that YOU yourself is enlightened to NOT be ignorant about this topic.. . meaning that the person that makes this statement is exempting themselves from the argument cos the argument is truly an obvseration about persons. aka humans and has nothing to do with the topic at hand. but at the same time you falsely equivocating it so is just intellectually dishonest. "Of course you don't" again another statement which imply that the statmenet maker aka YOU, indeed know some WE don't. again circular reasoning.

I heard brother Voddie's lesson some years ago and just revisited. Through and by God, man has free will, thus free to believe what he or she wishes to believe. The multi-layered, multi-faceted, step by step lesson it is intellectually honest, reliable, reasonable, and rationally thought out. While we followers of Jesus are flawed in many ways, it is this flawed believer of God's divine scriptures that non-believers will consider, investigate, and ultimately soften their hearts that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are real and perfect; and the word perfect is an understatement. Psalm 46:10 & John 14:6.

Begging the Question - petitio principii - circular reasoning: "Any form of argument where the conclusion is assumed in one of the premises."

"The new testament is true because the new testament says so" is an example of circular reasoning. "The new testament is true because it was written by eye witnesses in the lifetime of other eye witnesses is not circular reasoning. However, "I don't believe the bible because it's claims are false" IS circular reasoning (I don't believe the bible because I don't believe it's claims").

BORN AGAIN “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" We are born with the indwelling Spirit of God. But, to reach the ultimate conclusion of sin, we all have been given an ungrateful conviction that we deserve more. And so, the first time a baby feels hunger, it sins against the mother by being so ungrateful as to cry, the Spirit of God departs the baby and dead of a sprit is the baby. Therefore, if we want the indwelling Spirit of God to bring our spirit back to life, so that we may again have eternal life, we must first receive the free gift of repentance from God as evidenced by a burning desire to undue all the damage we have done. Now if you think that you are better than others, that your freewill had an inner goodness to at your pleasure achieve repentance and that qualified you for salvation above others, that is your absolute assurance that you have not been saved.

I just realized that the man who introduced Voddie B. is Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, who previously pastored First Baptist Church in Gardendale, AL. Voddie Baucham is such an excellent preacher. I wonder if Pastor Gaines has ever come around to believing Reformed Theology as Voddie B. does? I do hope so!

"I believe the bible is not a legend, and that it was written by eye witnesess, because it says so in the bible" is a circular argument. Myths can be born in a month, in our modern age, with people actively working to prove/ disprove them, but you know, we have documents (the bible) that claim increbible things only decades after the fact?? Not to mention all the other books that were rejected to be a part of the bible.

But yet you teach things about ancient civilizations that are backed up by documents which are much less reliable the the NT? The earliest manuscripts of the NT was written decades after the original but the earliest manuscript for Ceasar's conquests was written 900 years after the original. Why do you believe things about Ceasar but refuse to believe things about Christ even though the manuscripts are more reliable?
