i feel so sad for wwx; cause he always wanted lwj's attention, and always had a crush on him without realizing bc of the comphet. and he internally never expected lwj to share these feelings, he never even considered it, same with LWJ. they are both such kind people, that they will do good for everyone. and "if he catches me, ill" scene is so necessary because wei wuxian is actually joking things away before they can hurt him; and he has fallen so many times, awoken without anyone by his side, been hurt without anyone asking if it hurt; that sort of care, he's only received from Yanli and even then it was difficult with their social stature. so, the fact hes giving into his feelings finally - but that afterwards he feels as if he "stained" lan zhan's clothes with his blood, or disrespected him, or that lan zhan is just so good. the fact he was considering them as marriage bows but JC's words were like a fatal hit making him realize he was bejng too optimistic. like wwx doesnt have a terrible self esteem but he's terribly realistic tbh... to the point he really doesnt expect anything out of anyone, only himself :((((
