Jinjers label doesn't tend to CPY claim videos reacting to their music, especially not Jinjer. The reaction videos have boosted their popularity in the past 2-3 years from a fantastic scene band to an up and comer to the mega festivals. They know that and respect that. If you want to hear more of her range and talent, Teacher Teacher and I Speak Asrtonomy are a good start with more digestible tunes for metal virgins. There are also some of their songs where she sings clean all the way through too.

Also, they aren't really a death metal band. They are Nu, Prog and Death. But mostly Prog Metal, they switch styles and pace and singing and everything else up often several times in the same song. All 4 band members are masters of their instrument and highly creative people, which shows in how different every single one of their songs is.

Depending on the style of metal, Meter changes are very common. I end up playing in 6/8, 7/8, and 6/4 a lot. though I count it as 12/8 when I'm playing in it. Then there's bands like tool, which the meter changes are incredibly numerous. The other commonality in metal is how quickly we switch between Natural minor and Phrygian. The style I play very frequently uses natural minor when ascending and Phrygian or phrygian Dominant when descending. The flat second stepping down to the tonic is very much the sound of metal. Things to keep in mind.

@@TheVoiceLoveCo Metal has a lot in common with classical. Especially among the more progressive corner there's a lot of room for technical play. If you want something that's metal but easier to enjoy while still technical try And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope by Ne Obliviscaris. Alternatively within Death Metal I'm a big fan of Be'lakor. Very melodic though they totally still scream a lot. There's plenty of metal that doesn't but that's not labelled Death.

Tatiana has said she actually has no formal vocal training. She doesn't even warm up before shows. She does it naturally which is even more insane. But you are 100% right, trying that for a beginner is not good. From what I've watched and read, she does what's called a Fry Scream. She's not using her vocal folds which I believe is called a False Fold Scream. Regardless, she has natural talent most can only dream of.

Very informed and educated critique!! Welcome to Jinjer, there is no escape from the rabbit hole you just fell in. PLEASE react to the video of "Teacher Teacher" next, you will not be disappointed. Like this song, it is a brilliant piece and shows more of how well they fuse styles into their impressive form of "progressive metal"! Great reaction!

Liked the edited-in interludes. Much more preferable to the alternative of your stopping the performance during recording and talking through the pauses, because doing so would detract from your ability to get a full sense of the performance, and, as a viewer of a reaction, I don't want that interruption in the reactor's experience. So, post-production pauses are much more preferable to in-recording pauses. So, good job on that. And, the ~50s-ish TV-bulletin-style motif on your pause notice was cute. Didn't like the muted audio (though, in the analysis portion, it wasn't muted), but I get that you're doing what you feel you need to do.

Those pauses won’t prevent a video from being claimed by the content license holder and you won’t get a strike for doing reactions. There are actually quite a few uploads out there in regards to how precise the algorithm is at picking up songs owned by someone else. It literally only takes mere seconds to get noticed by the system. Your channel won’t get a strike though, you will just get a claim from the owner of the songs and won’t be able to monetize the reaction. No reaction channels can monetize their videos for this reason.

I think you're the first person reacting to this song who recognizes those changes of time signatures and such. It takes some skill to write a complex song which still has a very natural flow. I love the jazzy harmonies too. I'm not a fan of the genre but that's some great musicianship.

The rest of their catalog has a bunch of other vocal styles. She sings in a few other clean styles(jazzy, belted, raggae, rap) and also raps in her growl. Another couple great examples are: teacher teacher, Perennial, and who is gonna be the one Black water is also great it's one of just a few songs with 100% clean vocals in it

Hi! Great reaction and analysis. I'm sorry for this terribly long text but I would really like you to read it - here is the information so that you better understand what kind of band this is and who Tatiana is. So (big bunch of text :D): Jinjer is from Ukraine. This is one of the fastest growing band in the world right now - more than 130 concerts with full halls and stadiums on all continents (except Antarctica) last year and incessant tours this year (a new World Tour to release a new album begins in the fall) . Despite the fact that they are all from Ukraine, none of the participants ever speak Ukrainian, because they are from the Russian-speaking region Donbass where almost the entire population is Russian (there is a civil war right now that is supported by Russia on the one hand , and with another USA - there are two songs about it "Sit Stay Roll over" and "When Two Empires Collide"). All songs are in English only, but there is only one in Russian ("Желаю значит получу" - "I Want It I'll Get it"). They are: Tatiana Shmailyuk - vocals Roman Ibramkhalilov - guitars Eugene Abdiukhanov - bass Vladislav Ulasevich - drums Tatiana is a big fan of Amy Winehouse - she even makes a one tatoo in honor of Amy (you can also hear the musical imitation of Amy Winehouse at the end of the song "Who Is Gonna Be the One" )... And she also likes to listen to classic rock, progressive and NU metal, hardcore and deathcore, hip-hop and rap, blues and soul... She is 32 years old now. She was born on March 15, 1987 in Gorlovka, Donbass, Ukraine . After school, she entered the Pedagogical University and received a specialty as a teacher of Russian language and literature. She never studied vocals (only one month when she was a child - she quit music school because she was bored there) and did not train in growling and screaming, she only has a unique natural talents and abilities. In 2009, her friends from the young band Jinjer (was founded in 2008) were asked to temporarily replace vocalist Max Fatullaev who had left for the US until they find a new vocalist. But Tatiana brought such energy to the band that she did not replace the old vocalist for a few times, but remained forever and became the real leader of this band and the author of 99% of all songs (lyrics) . She has a big bunch of talents: she writes poetry and is the author of 99% of the band's lyrics, she draws arts and creates tattoo sketches, she can make tattoos (all tattoos of other members of the band are her works), she sews well (look her homemade dresses in videos "I Speak Astronomy"-official video and "Captain Clock"-live at Ressurection Fest), she does all her jewelry and piercing accessories with her own hands (she generally loves to do all sorts of stuff with her own hands) and much more. So, greetings from Kiev, Ukraine! Be happy, stay hungry and ride the Metal! Peace!

This is progressive metal, not death metal. Hence it draws from many other musical genres and techniques which gives us different timbres and yes, time-signatures. As for her voice, her "roar" which I think is actually a very deep fry-scream is deeper than many men and much clearer, resonant, long-lasting and overtone-rich then anyone else I know. Incredible!

Great reaction, "Chewy!" LOL! I love Jinjer! They are all such amazing artists on their own, and together, they raise the bar high on this genre of music. This is the perfect song to start with. Tatijana hitting that first chorus is an eye-opener for everyone that watches this video for the first time, but it's an unfathomable twist in reality for some. That's _really_ her voice. Women _can_ do that. But... They can only do that in the more extreme forms of music. Genres that have been hard for them to contribute to for a long time. A lot of women have made strong inroads, and Tatijana Shmailyuk (shma-EEL-yook) is a pinnacle of the class. I love her work. Karyn Crisis (song: 'Different Ways Of Decay') was a trailblazer, the first I can remember. Otep Shamaya (Band: Otep, songs: 'T.R.I.C.,' my fave: 'Buried Alive' or 'Ghostflowers') is impressive and poetic. I call goosebumps 'brinkflesh' now and ever more because of what Maria Brink's voice does to me (Band: In This Moment, songs: 'The Promise,' 'Blood,' 'Beautiful Tragedy'). Lzzy Hale. All of them indirect decendants of Janice Joplin, inheriting her drive to be a woman making music and being _loud_ about it. Consider that list my suggestions. I've been effusive about my interpretation of the lyrics - so easily eclipsed by Tati's voice - in the comments of other reaction videos (there are _so_ many react-to-Jinjer-Pisces-videos, it's its own genre now), but I'm gonna be cryptic here: the fish she sings about are not really fish, but the handsome butchers really are handsome butchers. Anyway, I love metal with women on vocals.
