History of fire alarm sounds: 20’s: mechanical bell 50’s: deep-sounding EHHHHHHHHHHHH 70’s: ERRRRRR ERRRRRRR ERRRRRR 80’s: BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ or DerNerNerNerNee 90’s: blowing whistle or lips flapping 2000’s: blowing whistle at a lower pitch 21010’s to present: “May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please? There has been a fire alarm reported in the building. There has been a fire alarm reported in the building.”

Actually, the may I have your attention please has been around since the 80's all most. Even buildings from 2010 have bells.

@@meikl100 Yeah, there were, but I feel like the “voice evac” systems have been more common lately. For the longest time, there were mostly fire alarms with horns or shrill whistle-sounding noises. The “voice evacuation” is not as harsh

Any voice evacuation system is better than horns. By the way, are there any low-frequency sounders in the bedrooms?
@mattthebassboy3 жыл бұрын
@@HeadsetGuy the whole building is run by a notifier system with system sensor spscwl speaker strobes and the bedrooms even have speakers in them

Do apartments actually do fire drills? I know student ones do at colleges but regular ones don’t. They might do a yearly test but they let residents know to ignore it. At least apartments I’ve been at and too.
@mattthebassboy3 жыл бұрын
@@trevormacewan this was a mandatory drill and these aren’t plain old neighborhood apartments this is a special apartment building for transition academy students

Matt the Bass Boy That fire alarm sound just like At My college campus dorms
@MrTylerNicole12 жыл бұрын
How often did they have a drill? If they do it often, they could consider doing a few unannounced surprise drills besides the pre-announced drills. Obviously you were told ahead of time. It’s good in that if the alarm goes off unannounced you know there’s probably a true emergency. But you want to respond to the alarm no matter if it’s real or not. I believe that’s why many schools do the surprise drills. Nobody knows when the real thing will happen so you have to be ready at all times.

What was worse? The whoop of the fire alarm or the gate alarm?
@joeycaridi30303 ай бұрын
For him, it's the gate alarms because that's louder and high pitched but not shrill like a regular horn strobe fire alarm
